Stayed in this hotel in mid-August. Simple and not like the typical hotels/hotel rooms. Located on one of the busiest street in Madrid. Security guards present 24/7 at the front door. Friendly front desk clerks. Hookers presence right outside the entrance but did not bother me. You have to spend a few dollars more for the superior room. McDonald and... More

The Hotel was clean and personnel friendly & competent. Rooms small and bathroom also. Bathroom privacy is an issue if that is important for the travelers. The location is very good though. Room windows don't let the noise get in. The lavatory is in the room and not inside the bathroom and there is not enough space to put your... More

The location is ideal if you're looking to walk to all points from your hotel. I didn't take the Metro one time - didn't need to. Street noise was minimal. The room itself was modern, clean. Stayed in 902 and 901. The bed in 901 wasn't as comfortable as 902. The common spaces were clean and pleasing to be in.... More

My friend and I decided that it would be a good idea on our way back from Morocco to spend the night in Madrid, as we had a connecting flight. We were not looking for anything fancy. We just wanted a place to sleep for the night. We thought that this place was more for backpackers.... What we arrived to,... More

Nice location and design ,good value for money. But staff wasn't helpful. We had a request for an early check in ,but they treated us like we weren't human beings! Also we asked for advice where to eat traditional food and they suggested us one of the most expensive and not of so good quality restaurant (called Reina's). Last but... More

Couldn't fault this hotel, beautiful view, right in the city centre, would come back in a heart beat. With out a doubt one my favourite hotels I've been too, so easy to get to by metro, also places to eat right next to it. Staff were also very polite and welcoming!

Had the skyline room. Situated on the last floor, cozy and great for couples. Staff is helpful, hotel is ideally located in the city centre, close to metro and other lively neighborhoods. No problems, would come back

Fabulous location in centre of city. I loved the ambience. The room was bright, clean with fabulous touches like the lamps and the old-fashioned telephone. Ample bathroom. Although I faced onto Gran Via the double doors to the balcony provided super soundproofing. The reception and sitting area is large and beautifully furnished. Excellent to have computers and printer available. Best bit... More

Booking is easy online and you can fix your rate immediately. The Hotel is very centrally located right next to the Gran Via Metro station on Calle Montera which is pedestrian. A short stroll brings you to the Puerta del Sol, the exact centre of Spain and hub of the city ( see it by day and by night)! The... More

Nice rooms: Simple but functional and nice decoration. Very central location - good connection to metro. As long as you don't mind the prostitutes on the street in front of the hotel. We got upgraded to a room on the top floor and had an amazing view over the city. Enjoy a breakfast (get some nice food at one of... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
