After an amazing stay at the Praktik Bakery in Barcelona I was looking forward to the last hotel on my vacation – the Praktik Metropol in Madrid. Three positive things: The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the location is excellent…steps away from the Gran via, a Metro stop and lots of shops and restaurants. And, the hotel has... Excellent hotel, good rooms, good value and very convenient located. Beautiful hotel with breath taking terrace. You can have a OK breakfast for a discount in the tapa bar next door. It is the third time I stayed in a Praktik Hotel, second time in this one and it is one of the best hotels I stayed in in Madrid.

Friendly helpful staff and comfortable superbly located hotel in the hub of Madrid. Quirky decor makes this hotel just a little bit different . Excellent value for money. Would recommend highly for its location, in particular .

This is a small and very original hotel in a very central location in Madrid, at the intersection of one of the main avenues (Gran Via) and a pedestrian street (Calle Montera). In fact four different hotels share this building (!), each using a couple of the floors and sharing two very small elevators - one of which was being... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in mid-March. Although the Madrid weather did not cooperate with us, we found our stay at Praktik Metropol to be perfect for the 2 evenings that we stayed. The room was clean, bright and airy despite its small cubic footage. The bathroom was clean and shower nice and... More

There's so much to like about this hotel: simple yet beautiful rooms; an amazing roof terrace; super-friendly staff; a great location. And yet.. We had two mornings without hot water. Our room was on the 9th floor, one of the lifts was broken, and when the lobby toilets are out of action you don't really want to have to walk... More

There is only 1 thing wrong right next to the hotel is where the ladies of the night/day reside, this does not take anything away from the hotel or the location... More

The hotel is in an excellent area of Madrid - walking distance to many sites but not actually in an overly touristy location & also very well connected by metro. There is plenty of shopping & lots of restaurants nearby. The elevator is tiny so be prepared to wait your turn - we mainly used the stairs. I would describe... More

Dear Catherine, Thank you very much for such a nice review about your stay at Praktik Metropol. As you say, we are located right in the heart of Madrid, few steps away from Gran Via metro station and all the most important sightseeings. We take the opportunity to inform all this website's users that we are improving our elevators and... More

I stayed here last October for 2 nights with my boyfriend and this hotel met all of our expectations. First of all, we were so impressed with the location. It is walking distance to some main attractions as well as directly beside a metro stop (Gran Via). Our room faced the square outside, which had lots of day & night... More

The hotel was simply perfect! Clean and well located in madrid, near everything. The view from the terrace is simply amazing! Good price-value! The place is quiet event if it's located in madrid's downtown!

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
