For a Hotel in the centre of Madrid this was very good value. Easy access to all sites and right next to the local metro lines. Hotel is currently being refurbished and so is getting better all the time.

I stayed here before the new management, and it worked as a no-frills place to stay while staying for a month in Madrid. The crib at that time was a metal cage which struck me as more unsafe than no crib at all. And the room was noisy at night. That said, it was spacious enough for two parents and... More

This hotel is under construction so it looks like a mess...not like in the pictures before. The whole buildling is torn apart. The worst is that the air conditioning was broken and it was 38 degrees celcius in Madrid!!! Read the fine print carefully as any kitchenware such as pans and forks costs 2 euros per person per day. Microwave... More

I stayed in Apart-Hotel Serrano Recoletos with a group of colleagues for five weeks and I loved it. Raquel Granados the reception manager went above and behind to make us feel at home. Her professionalism was outstanding and her kindness was very helpful. Overall all the people at the front desk was extremely cooperative and informative. I highly recommend this... More

Location, location, location! This is the perfect place to stay in Madrid. The suite I stayed was outdated, but very clean, mattress was not comfortable at all and Wi-Fi was extremely slow. A bit noisy, during the mornings, because the suite besides me was under renovations. Cleaning lady, was very sweet and professional. Some night staff at the front desk... More

This was often shambolic. Sometimes there was no breakfast served at all. The area for it is tiny. My room had no telephone, the basin had no plug etc. The structure of the rooms is very odd, the bedroom leads to a small living room with three steps and no rail. I kept my light on at night as this... More

I have been travelling to Madrid every month for work for the last 6 months and have stayed at 2 other aparthotels and 3 NH hotels. This has been by far the worst hotel experience so far. This hotel is still under construction and as far as I understand and have seen, most rooms are old and terrible and a... More

Lots of pros and cons regarding this place, On the plus size the location was first rate and the room we had was very large, we found the staff to be friendly and the Wi Fi, which is free, worked very well.. On the minus side, the kitchenette only had a couple of hobs, so forget those ready-meals. Crockery and... More

The good: The location is excellent and I found the room spacious enough. The staff and cleaning workers are polite and helpful with directions. The bad: The rooms are very dingy. My first room overlooked an alley and it was very loud on Friday and Sat nights so you may want to ask for a quiet location if you stay... More

I booked a room online that was supposed to be big enough for a family of 4. When we checked into the room it was anything but that. The room was very small and not at all like the pictures online. The water in the shower takes about 10 minutes to get hot and when it finally does get hot... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
