My fiance and I had a less than stellar hotel experience in Barcelona previous to arriving in Madrid, but we had no complaints about Hotel de las Letras. We were very warmly welcomed by a helpful and hip staff. We asked them to recommend a nearby restaurant on our first night and directed us to a "not touristy" place that... more

Definitely recommend! Great location, within walking distance of everything, metro just a few blocks away, double deck tour bus stops across the street. Rooms are nice, clean, spacious along with a little balcony. Restaurant food is very good and the roof top deck is great for drink and snack. Staff is very nice and helpful. more

Central. Cool rooms. Elegant cocktail bar. Definitely a top choice in madrid. Paseo del Prado a mere 5 min away in one direction & plaza major & palace 15 min walk in the other direction. Top spot. more

Wow, ultramodern rooms. Was pissed about being placed in smoking room because of unavailability. Smelled smoke occasionally, but overall really cool hotel with great services, location, and environment. Internet access beyond slow and intermittently nonexistent (even with ethernet cable. more

This hotel is both trendy and very comfortable at the same time and in a very central location. The Gran Via is a noisy street, also at night, but if you keep the windows closed you don't hear anything at all. They serve a very good breakfast (buffet), which is handy as lunch in Madrid is after 2.00 am. The... more

I stayed at the hotel for five nights and used all of their services. The location is fantastic right on the Gran Via. It is close to the metro station, to great shops and cafes, and in a very safe area of town. I walked around extensively until late at night and never felt uncomfortable. The hotel room is large... more

My husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel for two nights, part of a whirlwind 9 day visit to Spain. Unfortunately, our time in Madrid was at the beginning of our trip, and we were pretty jet lagged the entire time we spent there. We spent more time in our room than we intended to, but when we did... more

Wonderful, minimalist hotel. Were pleasantly surpised when we got there- were given a free upgrade from reception staff (contrary to what some people have said, they were always helpful). Bed was extremely comfy. Bathroom lovely. The bar was nice, with a large cocktail menu and good atmosphere. Only downside was noise from the street- the Spanish seem to enjoy beeping... more

Easter is often the first big-footed stomp of summer. For many years I have made it my perogative to take a long weekend break for Easter and enjoy that first blast of light and freedom. This year, chasing the sun, I chose Madrid over my more habitual Northern European destinations, I might not have! Of course the De las Leteras... more

Las Letras had the most unusual effect upon us, and we agreed in retrospect - the way it is designed and managed results in minimal interaction with staff. Everything gets done, everything is offered and in place, and they are available at any time - but they are not constantly hovering at your back like, for example, staying in Tokyo.... more
