this place is a little difficult to find at first as it is down a side road. But, you will be happy that this hotel is down a side road. Madrid can be a very busy and loud city. This hotel was centrally located and close to everything. However, since it was down a side road, there was very little... More

Stayed for 3 nights in the hotel in June 2015. Found a good rate via an e-mail promotion. This hotel is in a very modern in style. The rooms had everything you could need including a "real hair drier" including a volumiser as my partner remarked instead of the captured ones you often find. Laptop safe and minbar. Large walk-in... More

We stayed at the Eurostars Plaza Mayor 3 nights. As all Eurostar Hotels, the room was very clean and modern. Beds were comfortable. Location was okay (center of Madrid). However, we considered our room B107 to be in the "dead zone". No wifi (which we mentioned several times to the staff) and on our last morning, no hot water to... More

Decent 4* with reasonable breakfast, very comfy beds, well soundproofed (important in Madrid centre), friendly well informed staff. Location is great, plenty of variety of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Overall a very positive experience.

Externally the hotel looks "quaint" with stained glass windows to the front (see website) but the interior is very modern. We asked for a quiet room and were allocated a room at the back of the hotel in "B" block. Room very clean with modern fittings, bath and shower combined. The hotel is close to the theatre and cinema district... More

I had a short solo break in Madrid and found this hotel to be just perfect. A bit of a modern building but Well located, spotlessly clean, generous sized rooms, comfy beds and helpful staff. For an extra 10 euros I took breakfast each day - top floor- sunny room with outside terrace and views across the red Madrid tiled... More

This hotel is away from the crowded streets but still very centric. Only a couple of minutes away from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol (7 mins tops). The hotel inside is very modern, seems recently renovated. Spacious bathroom and comfortable room. Wifi works excellent, nice breakfast. Definitely would stay again.

Good location and a clean hotel. The Wi-Fi is free and worked well for us. The hotel isn't luxurious and doesn't have character but it is clean, comfortable, central and reasonable. The air-conditioning worked well and there is an in-room safe. The breakfast was well done and served on the top floor with panoramic windows so there was a view.... More

The Eurostars Plaza Mayor is located in the center of Madrid, next to a metro station (Tirso de Molina) and not far from Puerta del Sol. The rooms are medium size, looks new and clean. On shiny days breakfast is served on a balcony with a view to Madrid roofs.

We stayed 4 nights in hotel - we had Standard Room. Room was clean and average sized. Hotel has free wi-fi but it is a bit slow. Air conditioning worked well. Otherwise hotel was good but there was some issues with the front desk. When we arrived for example the receptionist didn't explain us our booking - since we had... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
