The marketing for these apartments is very good with excellent photos and imaginative prose. Our check-in was adequate since we followed a party of four. The receptionist was friendly with a good command of English. He assisted us with our luggage to our apartment on the second floor. After explaining the keys and their corresponding locks, he opened the door... More

Nice clean apartment equipped with kitchen and home appliances (hairdryer and iron also included). comfortable beds, tv. Didn't hear any noise from the streets, slept like a baby. Bathroom rather small but bearable for that price.

For budget priced apartments one should not expect to find them much bigger than a motorhome and that is what they are. Ours was approx 24 square metres but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom while small was clean and adequate for stays of a few days. It is so central, close to museums and to good restaurants with... More

the hotel is placed between 2 restaurants down a side street. although the location is brilliant, you do only get what you pay for. the apartment was superficially clean and may have had a recent re-fit, but scratch the surface you can see signs that they have not been maintained well, light bulbs blown etc. the bathrooms are very very... We book three night at the Good Stay in Madrid for the weekend of the 4-5-6 July (Madrid's Gay Pride). When we arrived to the office of Good Stay after over 10 hour traveling the person in the office told us that they were full so they cancelled our confirmed booking. After this he was very unhelpful and kept saying... More

I am stuck with room 4E booked for 2 days. The booking site showed some fancy pictures of a well equipped kitchen et'al. What they failed to show was the stuffy suffocating room with no windows. The kitchen has a window which opens in to the passage way and the bedroom (all super tiny) has a window which opens out... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
