A very classy hotel. Old but very well mantained. Excellent staff, very friendly and professional. Nice and quiet in an excellent neigborhood. Few blocks away from Calle Serrano which is Madrid's 5th avenue I will return.

Yes, if you managed a rezervation for this hotel, you will find yourself in a strategical great location: not too noisy, not too far from the Big Park or from the busy center and Prado. But if the rezervation managed through, let,s say booking.com, and the price is under 100 Euro, than for sure you will get a room with... More

In an affluent area of Madrid, round the corner and 10 min walk from Velasquez metro. 5 mins from all the major designer shops. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. We booked 3 twin rooms with breakfast and luckily we were all next door to each other. Room: spacious with a TV. Cupboard and an electronic safe. Bathroom: bathtub with... More

The hotel is very well located in the Salamanca district. However this is probably the only really positive aspect. The style of the hotel is very baroque, but overall it is not well kept. The room was big and spacious, but stinky for too many smokers, and overall worn off. The bed mattress seemed old, and the pillow was one... More

The hotel is located in the posh Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid, Spain> it's location allowed for easy access to public transportation to major attractions as well as the Prado museum. I spent a total of 5 nights at this hotel. The last three days of my stay, I was assigned a room off the back patio. The room had a... More

“Wonderful grand hotel in GREAT location” Great area, Barrio Salamanca, with many bars and restaurants all around. Great shopping in boutiques and chain stores. Also not far from the hotel there is a shop-cafe VIPS (open 24 hours) so you can purchase water etc. Great rooms, large with comfortable beds. We had an executive suite #614 facing front. Loved the... More

Stayed there for a 2 week vacation. I prepaid 3 months in advance and requested a non smoking room. I got a smoking area room with a noisy mini elevator next to my room I could hear all nite. The people at the front desk were rude, arrogant and not caring. Homero Rodríguez 210-364-6603

First time I stayed here was in 2008, when I came back in 2014 it looked exactly the same. The style of the hotel is possibly attractive to old people, lots of marble and fake gold. Personally I don't like it and when it is also dated and a bit worn out it just feels shabby. On the positive side,... More

Excellent location. Outstanding service and attitude of all staff. Take breakfast included rate; quality and breadth of buffet were very good. Only bad point: bed matresses are old; they need replacing. All in all, the cost benefit ratio of this hotel is very hard to beat.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
