This is a fabulous hotel in some ways. It's four star, but the service and overall quality is nothing much beyond three stars. BEST PART: the rooms are large and spacious. If you have kids who like to run around, or if you want to do some yoga in your room or have any other particular use for space, this... More

The hotel is outdated air conditioning does not work. The lights on the corridors are not on and it was difficult to find the room. Staff tried to charge us 150 euros more than the bill and when we asked them why they just removed it as if to say 'we tried it' staff were really rood and disrespectful they... More

Gran Hotel Velazquez has a splendid location, great breakfast, however I had an unstoppable allergic rhinitis most likely because of the old rugs and curtains decoration. Of course, I do not want to generalize overall the rest of the rooms, but because of this, I spent a terrible night. Otherwise, if you are not prone to allergies, I believe the... More

Dear Customer. We feel greatly what we said during his stay in our hotel. I want to tell, that our rooms are cleaned with special products in order to avoid problems like the one told us. What we have in mind and see what could happen. A greeting More

This hotel is fine for a city break and is in a lovely quiet part of the city fairly near the centre and close to the metro. There are still signs of its Art Deco heritage but some elements are a little tired. My room was at the back of the hotel. It was dark but as it was so... More

Given the low price of this hotel I was not going to comment on the old bathroom or the bad breakfast. But finding pubic hair and other skin bits in the bed sheets is simply unaccetable. It was too late to call reception and ask for a room change, but I had to sleep fully dressed.

Placed at Velazquez Street in “Barrio de Salamanca”, this hotel has a fantastic location, near one of the most active street in Madrid – “Paseo da Castellana”-. The rooms are friendly, good breakfast, and a nice bar and restaurant. Subway very close allow you to know better Madrid.

The hotel is in a very good location in Madrid and is amazing value for money. It is not luxury, but it is entirely acceptable. We have no complaints about the hotel at all and will certainly be staying there again. Totally recommend.

We stayed there for 5 nights with kids. Quite old rooms which need refurbishment. Locations is good - just in the heart of all best shops. Breakfast was quite good as well. But I there were no SPA or swimming pool.

Stayed on business for 2 nights and had a large classicly decorated very comfortable room with a rubbish view of an internal courtyard ! Very clean and very central. Dear Customer. We welcome your comments, hoping to recount their stay with us, I'm surprised the comment that English is not spoken at the reception, as far as I know, all the staff speak Ingés as a second language and at least one other language because they are essential requirements, in any way accept my apologies. The location is fantastic, very close to the metro, and near multiple shops and restaurants. Although not very big, the rooms are quite comfortable. The staff was quite nice, always polite and helpful. The breakfast was great, with a good variety of options. I would definitely stay there again.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
