I love this boutique hotel. I first stayed there while on a business trip in 2008, and knew I would always stay there when I visit Madrid. This time it was a fun trip, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The service is wonderful. They give you these lovely chocolates with turn down service. The... More

We just completed a stay at the Hotel Urban in Madrid. A incredibly nice hotel in a very centrally located spot. Close to the Sevilla and Sol Metro stations, both are an easy walk. Also an easy walk to Gran Via and all of the shopping and night life. A very attentive staff from the front desk to the housekeepers... More

The Urban Hotel is a really cool, well located and comfortable base to explore Madrid. The service is great, the food really good, great cocktails, high quality design and comfort. We will definitely come back and readily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid.

Everything at this hotel was simply superb --from the room, to the service, to the breakfast. The technology available was ideal and the staff was so welcoming! We would absolutely return and stay at Urban!

The Hotel Urban is a spectacularly designed hotel in an excellent location. You can normally find a very good rate too - this is 5 star luxury at its best. Spectacular common areas decorated with Egyptian art and rooms that are beautifully done up and extremely comfortable. Don't miss the bar downstairs and the terrace in summer!

Went to the Hotel Urban for a girly weekend in Madrid, Jan 2015. Fabulous hotel, great value for money and in a very central location. Would highly recommend to groups of friends or even for a romantic getaway. Madrid is a vibrant city with plenty to see and fantastic food.

The location is perfect, easy walking distance to Puerta del Sol, Parque del Buen Retiro, Plaza Mayor and el Palacio Real. The room itself was extremely comfortable, so comfortable I accidentally slept until noon one day! Staff are friendly and approachable, and patiently endured my attempts at Spanish. I will stay here again the next time in Madrid.

My college age daughter and I stayed in a duplex room in March. The upstairs sitting area with its own TV gave us some separate space. The upstairs sitting area received natural light from a skylight with a remote controlled shade that could be closed to block out light for late mornings. Furnishings in the upstairs were a couch for... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
