In the very center of the city. Able to walk to most attractions. Very comfortable and quiet rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Santiago at front desk was most knowledgeable about everything we asked. Highly recommended. Breakfast quite good.

I stayed here for 2 nights in mid May. The single room on the first floor (second level) was small but clean and comfortable. The hotel is located on a quiet side street in a very busy area between the Gran Via and the Puerta del Sol. A nice breakfast with coffee, juices, breads, cheese and meats is included. There... Castillas was clean and good hotel. Center is near, if you go to Madrid for short trip this is a good choice. Room was clean and staff was nice. Breakfast was good. We were there on Sunday, so there was a nice market nearby. It was fun to walk there and enjoy atmosphere.

The location couldn't be better. Just a few hundred metres from three metro stations. Close to shops. Lots of restaurants within an easy walk. Half way between Royal Palace on one side of the central district and the big museums on the other. We were pleasantly surprised by the room itself - larger than we expected with a very roomy... The hotel is very central, right next to the famous Gran Via, where one can find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms are modest, but clean. Breakfast was good. The wireless leaves a lot to be desired. We were on the 4th floor and there was almost no reception. Anyways, I strongly recommend to everyone who looks for... More

This was an ideal base for exploring Madrid. The rooms were fine - clean and spacious enough; the buffet breakfast was good; and the hotel was easy to find, near Callao and Gran Via metro stations. All the major sites were within walking distance, with a short metro ride often an alternative, and the staff were very knowledgeable about local... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night in the way home. The rooms are very clean and quiet, the breakfast was good. The hotel is near to Gran via where you will find many magazines for shopping and is at 5min away from a subway station.

Good hotel in a nice central location close to the Gran Via and metro. They let us check in at 8:00 am after an overnight train trip which was great. The included breakfast was good, the room clean, comfortable and average size for a European hotel. Unfortunately, the room was too warm and the air-con not working (switched off for winter?).... I found very good quality/price ratio. Close to Gran Via but in a small street..thus not so loudy.. you can easily access the night life and other attractions. Metro (Callao) stop very close to the hotel. Hotel staff very helpful for information about restaurants or night life.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
