We stayed here for 7 nights in Madrid - we were completely happy with the room. It was small but very well serviced and had plenty of cupboard space for our luggage. The bathroom had two basins - that's always a plus. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was perfectly adequate - what you would expect in a three... More

This hotel has a great location, close to the sights of Madrid. The hotel lobby is very nice but the rooms are very small, smell of chlorine, the bathroom is also small. The room smelled of cigarette smoke occasionally.

A good budget hotel in between Sol and Gran via areas. Stayed for two nights in a triple room. The room was silent with no complaints. There was a TV, safe, big king size bed. Breakfast was a small spread, with juices, coffee, breads, croissants, scrambles eggs, sausage different slices if meat, cakes and cornflakes. The room was silent, but... More

Stayed here with friends in a family room. The air con didn't work so well but we could open the window. It's nice and clean but nothing extra. Breakfast is ok, typical Spanish with no sign of fibers and dark bread. Staff is nice, friendly and helpful. Location is perfect!

The hotel is just off one of the major roads in Madrid. Within walking distance of the Prado Museum ,Plaza Major, palaces and the Central Park. The staff were friendly ,helpful and spoke good English. The rooms and ensuite were a reasonable size well appointed with cable TV and A/C. The Mexican rstaurant across the street has a great " happy... More

This hotel is just on the famous street Gran Via, which is famous for restaurants, pubs, shopping centers and night life. Also, it is very near to all the major attractions like Puerta Del Sol and other famous monuments. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Price was slightly on the higher side, and hence going with 4 stars!

Hotel was fine, good location and staff but breakfast fairly unexciting. Only hotel we stayed in Spain that did not have any cut up fresh fruit at all, just a bowl of apples and oranges. also when my wallet was stolen, the desk clerk directed us to a police station very far away and in our wanderings we found one... The location of this hotel is perfext. Walking distance from most attractions and the Gran via. However all 3 days we were thr, the air conditioning was a big problem. The room tended to be hotter than the outdoors which wasnt a good feeling at all. Breakfast was fine and otherwise the service was ok.

We just came back from a European trip and our first place was Hotel II Castillas Madrid. It is very well located, extremely clean, offers a great service, and their breakfast is just perfect to begin your day. We stayed in a big room, it was very comfortable and had a view to one of the adjacent streets. We were... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
