Hostal was very comfortable and located within walking distance of all the sights. Room was small but spotless, we chose not to trade up. A bit of street noise from the cafe across the street open till 5:00 AM but livable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nice and cosy small hotel just nearby Plaza Mayor and Puerto del Sol. To Plaza San Miguel was just a few steps. Room was small and bed just 140 cm wide but that was enough for us. The room was cleaned and towels changed every day. Staff was friendly and reception open 24/7.

Simple but clean and in the center, close to everything. Very good for any trip with small budget. It's at the first floor but you have an elevator, quite useful with luggages. Stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, you can even left your stuffs if you still have a bit of time before to leave.

This is a great hotel - everything was great actually, the rooms were lovely, the reception were very helpful, the location is superb. ( In my opinion Opera Station is the best area to stay whilst in Madrid.) and the breakfast was delicious. I had an amazing time in Madrid and I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

Could not fault the location! Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English. The room was comfortable and spacious with blackout shutters. However, it was quite noisy outside due to our room facing the main road. Location is minutes away from the Royal Palace and other amazing attractions.

Our room was a little tight for two of us, but was clean and staff were helpful. The rooms were pretty dated (very small and old TV on the wall, bedding). The location on the other hand, was great. We were steps from a Metro stop, restaurants and shopping. Price was great for the location.

Not fancy, just basic accommodations that are clean and close to both Metro stops and major attractions. Rooms are small but so are the prices. This is not a luxurious spot, just one that assumes the traveler wants to see Madrid's sights not spend the day in the hotel. I have stayed here on four occasions and have been pleased... More

Great location, friendly staff, wonderful, authentic, typical spanish building, very clean, small rooms but sure value for money, you can easily walk to all wonderful places and museums and the metro is nearby. I certainly come back

Great place to stay if you are in Madrid for a couple of days. Room 11 is a bit small, but that was not should be problem because during the day you suppose to be outside seeing the beautiful Madrid :) It is clean and not too loud.

This hostal exceeded our expectations. It is centrally located and within walking distance to all the major tourist spots. The hotel manager was very genial and friendly and gave us a comfortable room and also a kettle! We felt at home immediately and had a lovely two night stay. The bed was comfortable , the air conditioning was fine and... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
