Very reasonable hostel right on Gran Via! The room was of a good size although the bathroom was a bit small but what's important is that both were very, very clean! Great restaurants all around the area, never have to go far for a good meal. Location is central so we basically walked to most of Madrid's attractions then took... More

I receive hospitality and found good attitude towards tourists. Clean rooms and confortable bed. From this place you can walk through La Gran Via or take the next Metro Station. If you have going to have a short stay in Madrid and then move to other cities this place is a good choice.

We had a great time. The wifi was a bit weak. And some host didnt knew what the word "class" meant but overrall, it was a nice experience. The location cannot be better . Everything is near. So for the price, nice spot

Great location, clean and offers everything you need for a short stay in Madrid. Close to main attractions, metro, parks, El Corte Ingles. Try not to get the rooms by the reception, there is a bit of noise, or get one on the back side so you dont hear the elevator. Other than that was perfect for my short stay... More

Hostal Santillan was a very good discovery in Madrid. Located in the Gran Vía Madrileña, this hostal is very convenient because it is close to everything: restaurants, bars, stores, transports, attractions... The building where it is located is very beautiful, and everything was immaculately restored. The price was good for what it offers and even the fact that there was... More

Excellent Location, it's possible to visit madrid by foot, and there are many options of public transport if you prefer. The service is very good, so as the hygiene conditions. Nice stuff. There were no noise. I strongly recommend this hostel.

stayed there only for a night, nice location, though the sign board on street face is bit too small. English for the host far was not so good, but it didn't hamper much. Nice eateries around offering some real good breakfast deals. Though they call it a hostel, its more of a hotel including the cost. Average because of its price.

This hostal is very central, what allows visiting madrid by foot. Good infrastructure at all levels, with two lifts. Good hygiene conditions. The whole service is very good for an hostal. No noise or trouble with other people in hostal.

Stayed 2 nights in November, solo female traveller. Booked a Double Room with private bathroom. paid 50 Euros a night. Although it is technically a hostel, this place functioned more like a hotel. I wasn't informed of any area where guests could socialise, or of common pantry like many hostels have. My room was one level up from the reception,... More

Seriously, it's quite a no-frills hotel, as the 2 stars would suggest, but if all you need is a clean room, a comfortable bed, and a private bathroom all located in the very heart of the city, then this is a good choice. Our room was not street-facing which had as downside no view out the window, but as upside... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
