Excellent Location, it's possible to visit madrid by foot, and there are many options of public transport if you prefer. The service is very good, so as the hygiene conditions. Nice stuff. There were no noise. I strongly recommend this hostel.

stayed there only for a night, nice location, though the sign board on street face is bit too small. English for the host far was not so good, but it didn't hamper much. Nice eateries around offering some real good breakfast deals. Though they call it a hostel, its more of a hotel including the cost. Average because of its price.

This hostal is very central, what allows visiting madrid by foot. Good infrastructure at all levels, with two lifts. Good hygiene conditions. The whole service is very good for an hostal. No noise or trouble with other people in hostal.

Stayed 2 nights in November, solo female traveller. Booked a Double Room with private bathroom. paid 50 Euros a night. Although it is technically a hostel, this place functioned more like a hotel. I wasn't informed of any area where guests could socialise, or of common pantry like many hostels have. My room was one level up from the reception,... More

Seriously, it's quite a no-frills hotel, as the 2 stars would suggest, but if all you need is a clean room, a comfortable bed, and a private bathroom all located in the very heart of the city, then this is a good choice. Our room was not street-facing which had as downside no view out the window, but as upside... More

I stayed in a single room. Well designed ,small, cozy and recently renovated. Staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. Great place in return of the money. Top spot on the center of Madrid. Located on the Gran Via street it was easy to connect to the top attraction spots in the city.

We have just came back from our 5 day holiday in Madrid. We stayed at Hostal Santilan and are very satisfied. This is centrally located (two metro stations are within 5 min walking distance), very clean and we had an upgraded room which was quite large. We will definitely go back to Santillan. The receptionist was very helpful and eager... More

The location is perfect (located right in the Grand Via), the rooms are not luxuries but comfortable, and the staff is extremely friendly. The Metro station is 5 minutes walking distance, there are plenty of restaurants close by and the area is very secure. My wife and I are planning another trip to Madrid next year and we are definitely... More

This is a hostal. So do not expect expensive things. This is clean and a good deal smack in the center of everything. Great location. The building is a high rise and the hostal is on 3 different floors. They owners run it and they are very helpful. I did not know that I was dealing with the owner and... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
