The hotel is in an excellent location just off of Plaza Mayor. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are modern by European Standards. We were only on the second floor in a very lively area, but it was fairly quiet at night--at least after midnight. You are within walking distance of a lot of museums and the... More

I accidentally had to stay here twice in 2 weeks. And I shouldn't have done that. The staffs are confusing, unfriendly and made my payment complicated. The room is ok but small with basic facilities. The corridor is really dark.

If you are in Madrid, you don't want to spend too much time in your room. Esp if this room is just 100 meters from Plaza Mayor. I spent 3 nights there. My room was tiny but ok. I didn't have breakfast because I was partying (New Years Eve). I liked that sticker in the bathroom that Madrid needs water,... More

We stayed at this hotel on the last night of our 9 day trip to Spain, and it was the only hotel (out of five) that I am writing a negative review for. First of all, parking was atrocious. We drove by the hotel for the first time around 3:30 pm, and by the time we found parking and walked... More

I stayed 5 nights here. The staff was friendly and helpful and always at the desk. You can't beat the location as you are able to walk to everything or easily hop on the Metro. Free wifi in the room. Room and bathroom were plenty big enough for one person. The room was always clean. As a solo female traveler,... More

The staff in this hotel are one if the most unfriendly person we ever met in our life! Not willing to help at all, it seems like the people there are totally annoyed about each single guest. The hotel by itself is not worth the money at all! I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. For these... More

My friends and i have stayed in Hotel Plaza Mayor in one summer a few years back. We were in a triple room. The hotel is very centrally located - right in the famous plaza mayor. You can walk to most attractions such as the Palacio Rial (Royal Palace). There are lots of restaurants and shops around. Shopping can be... More

We stayed 3nights. Very helpful staff. 24 hour reception. We had a 3rd floor twin room with balcony window. Room was clean comfy and big enough for the two of us. I cannot fault it. And it's location is perfect for everything. Restaurants, shops, metro sights all on your doorstep. It's so easy to be super critical but this hotel... More

I see from previous reviews that I am not the only one who experienced this. Beware! We were in a bind because the hotel we had booked months ago turned out to be no longer in existence. I found the Plaza Mayor listed in Michelin (couldn't use my computer as I had no internet access standing in the street) so... More

Dear Guest WE really explain prices are not the same on the web and directly in person... Nowdays prices are increasing and decreasing every moment. When you accept a price you should accept it. Later if you find anotther offer better it is a thing we cannot control. Regards Reservations More

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
