First Encounter with Isabel is a bit strained due to Computer glitz on their side. My booking did not appear, but she managed to put things straight and checked us in. She showed us room 116 which is good enough and all is well. We stayed twice in this Hotel and it was worth it. All the staff are friendly.... More

I needed a hotel for a weekend trip to Madrid that was clean and comfortable, and also walking distance to a lot of main attraction; this hotel was it! The room was fairly spacious (we had a triple) and the bathroom was pleasantly surprising. The shower pressure was great, but the only issue was the bathtub didn't drain very well,... More

This hotel has a fantastic location. Rooms are well-fitted and clean, with the bathrooms especially good. Staff speak very good English and are very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Despite its central location, the rooms were very quiet. Wifi worked well.

This hotel was located right off the large Plaza Mayor, which is very convenient in Madrid. It was quiet which was great since we had just gotten off our plane and were looking to get some good rest. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were clean. The rooms were spacious and the AC worked well (which was great... More

When travelling solo, I don't exactly expect a huge room but I was practically crawling over my suitcase. This hotel is literally steps away from plaza mayor, puerto del sol, and not a far walk from palace real. The receptionist I had was incredibly unpleasant when checking in, but the rest of the staff seemed very kind. For the price,... More

May 2005: Wow! What a great hotel. Very reasonably priced (unless you get the least expensive room; in that case, you get what you pay for - a rather small room). My wife and I stayed there 10 years ago and were quite surprised at the spaciousness of our room, the fantastic location (right at Plaza Major near downtown), the... More

The hotel is located within 2 minutes to Plaza Mayor and 5 to 20 minutes to any site location. The staff was very helpful and very nice. Rooms are clean and well kept. In short I will stay here again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Imagine a hotel which when staying in is fresh clean modern welcoming and just 100yds from the main plaza in Madrid for extremely great value. Then this it it. Within walking distance of all major spots for Madrid this hotel is a perfect base to explore the city. Air conditioning, free wifi and within 1 minute walk of Plaza Mayor,... More

Enjoyed our stay at this small no frills hotel. The service was good and staff pleasant. The location is the strongest asset. We rented the penthouse unit, roomy but a bit hot and somewhat smelly because it is situated in the attic. The terrace was a nice feature. all in all a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

I traveled alone and asked for a single room. I got a room on the 5th floor in the back of the hotel which helped alleviate any street noise, I had no view but I did have a window to let fresh air in. Room was clean, well organized, bed was decent, shower comfortable (I'm a big boy), air conditioner... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
