If location and price is what you are after when looking for accommodation in Madrid then this would be the place. So close to many shops and restaurants but also to Puerta Del Sol. My room had small window balcony which can be opened and bed was comfy.

Great location- a block from Puerta del Sol and Gran Via. Nearby Metro station. Great price. Ample room size and bathroom with little extras. Comfortable beds. Very friendly and efficient staff. Can't wait to go back!

Nice hotel, nothing to complain . Clean rooms and bathrooms, nice and friendly staff. And location is fantastic, just in the middle of the city. Great place for short break. Easy access to all Madrid 's attractions.

We booked this hotel based on reviews and were sadly disappointed. We specifically asked for a double bed and a twin ( for our child) when we arrived very late at night we discovered we had 3 twin beds separated by fixed night stands. We were told by the night desk attendant that she would leave word for her colleagues... More

Location is best. Not a lot else. Clean. Simple. Not a 3 star. Just returned from a 3 night city stay at this hotel in the centre of the city. Must say that the location is ideal. Slap bang half way down Calle Montana, equidistant from Gran Via and Sol metro stations. However, the hotel is situated about 25mtrs from... More

The Hotel Ateneo has a great location and is quite centrally located to lot of the sites. Along with the great location, you do get some street noise but if I wanted quiet, I should have stayed in Corvallis! The staff (especially Sandra) was very helpful in all accounts! She had a great recommendation for Paella (La Paella de la... More

Nice hotel, perfectly located for a city trip. Very good staff at reception desk. Breakfast buffet is OK and is available in weekends till 11;30. The hotel is located on a very busy street and it can be a bit noisy outside.

Stayed at this hotel last weekend. Great location in the center of Madrid. Hotel staff were really lovely and helpful, plus spoke English which was an advantage. There was a lot of noise at night, but this was due to the location. Did ask for early check in/late check out via Booking.com, but this was never acknowledged so don't know... More

Booked as a couple, amazing location, 2 minute walk from Gran Via and Sol. Lots of reviews complained about the noise but we were facing the main street and slept absolutely fine, when the window was closed we couldn't hear a thing. + Friendly and helpful staff + Clean + Cosy + Large bathroom + Professional looking + Balconette +... Very old hotel for me is over price. I will pay more for a better one. Just the location is good, easy to find. ( but actualy they have many small hotels near by too) No breakfast at all but you can eat near by. I won't come back for this price and they always fully booked because it's on... More

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
