This was our last hotel of our holiday and we were a little apprehensive after the mixed reviews here! We booked this hotel for it's location and it was extremely well placed! It was 2minutes from a metro station and an easy walk from everywhere we wanted to go-so much so we ended up not using our 10 trip travel... More

The location is the best of the hotel, a room for two is perfect and the service is good. In the other hand, there's a buffet for breakfast, the food is okay but it's a very small place. And near the hotel there's a Corte Ingles and a theatre. I enjoyed staying there.

I booked this hotel via booking.com- and unlike most other hotels I have booked on that site, this hotel demanded payment up-front. I should have smelled a rat then- but instead, relying on the reviews I could see then (which were quite good- unlike the more recent ones) and the fact this hotel is part of a larger group which... Took at cab from the airport. Hotel Senator Gran Via please. No hay problema Señor he says. Drops me at 21 Gran Via. Can you believe that the same hotel would call BOTH of their hotels Hotel Senator when they are on the same street - defies belief but true. Mine was at 70 Gran Via - about 1/2 mile... More

For the price I expected something a lot better the reception staff were friendly and efficient but that is where my praises end. To get to the the lift you have to pass through a bar. The rooms are old and tired and the main curtain had holes. The bathroom needs refurbishing and when showering you get rolled up in... More

Stayed here for a short break while in Madrid to watch the tennis at Caja Majica. Very convenient location on Gran Via, perfect to walk around the centre, and to many of the sights. 3 metro stations within a few hundred metres too, with the closest at Plaza Espana just 100m away. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and... More

One of the most terrible hotels I have ever stayed in. From the first time one tries to open the front entrance to the last time one leaves it's very bad. Every hotel with self esteem has a uniformed doorman. This one has its own, kind tragicomic, solution: A female , raggedy, very forward Romanian beggar who not only opens... More

Old style hotel, pleasant staff, not all spoke English. Room clean, actually had a bath not just a shower. Breakfast disappointing and overpriced (12.5euro pp) so check if it's included in your booking before eating! On main shopping street so loads of restaurants and bars around, walking distance for most attractions eg the Prada and the Royal Palace. Wifi was... More

On the plus side. Great location. Walking distance to royal palace. Good selection of restaurants And shops nearby. Prado 20 mins walk. Good breakfast. Huge room. Amazing Thai massage in spa But, as others have said, very annoying that spa is only free to guests for 2 hrs, causing it to be crowded. Asked for coffee to be topped up... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
