On the plus side. Great location. Walking distance to royal palace. Good selection of restaurants And shops nearby. Prado 20 mins walk. Good breakfast. Huge room. Amazing Thai massage in spa But, as others have said, very annoying that spa is only free to guests for 2 hrs, causing it to be crowded. Asked for coffee to be topped up... More

Senator is 'olde worlde' in decor. The lobby is a bit tired looking. Some of the armchairs looked as if generations of Spanish bottomsmay have sat on them. The use of wall mirrors was confusing, making the whole ground floor look twice as big as it actually is. The receptionist on duty had an attitude problem. She was curt, almost... More

Very well located with access to the Metro and center of the city within walking distance. Room and bath were clean and ample and the bed was very comfortable. The wifi was dissapointing as it was free but extremely slow. You will have better connections at most restaurants in Madrid. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The... More

Not worthy to use the spa only, I don´t know about the hotel. I went to the spa and I didn´t like it at all. The spa is small, there isn´t anything for the legs, the temperature of the pools are much lower than usual. Children are allowed! This is the first time I´m seeing this.. When I went there... More

First of all be reminded this is the Senator Espana that is at the north east end of the Gran Via near Plaza Espana, Royal Palace etc. and not to be confused with the sister hotel Senator Gran Via that is further down. The position is ideal for sightseeing being within walking distance of most places and also handy for... More

The spa was fine but we only went during the free time for guests in the morning so there were kids running around. I imagine if you went at a different time the spa would be quite different. We didnt have breakfast so i cant comment but the room was fantastic

This hotel was pretty good, however the service at the breakfast/coffee & tea area was atrocious. Both waiters (South American origin) at the bar had no knowledge of customer service and were very rood when spoken to. On several occasions my order had to be repeated as it was totally forgotten after waiting over twenty minutes. This got quite frustrating.... More

The location is within 300m of julia travel which does Toledo and other tours which is great. Also near shops, plaza de espana and close to the other plazas. Hotel is a little dated but nice sized rooms and great staff. Service was prompt. Wifi dropped out randomly and was very slow. Also it required sign on each time you... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
