First of all be reminded this is the Senator Espana that is at the north east end of the Gran Via near Plaza Espana, Royal Palace etc. and not to be confused with the sister hotel Senator Gran Via that is further down. The position is ideal for sightseeing being within walking distance of most places and also handy for... More

The spa was fine but we only went during the free time for guests in the morning so there were kids running around. I imagine if you went at a different time the spa would be quite different. We didnt have breakfast so i cant comment but the room was fantastic

This hotel was pretty good, however the service at the breakfast/coffee & tea area was atrocious. Both waiters (South American origin) at the bar had no knowledge of customer service and were very rood when spoken to. On several occasions my order had to be repeated as it was totally forgotten after waiting over twenty minutes. This got quite frustrating.... More

The location is within 300m of julia travel which does Toledo and other tours which is great. Also near shops, plaza de espana and close to the other plazas. Hotel is a little dated but nice sized rooms and great staff. Service was prompt. Wifi dropped out randomly and was very slow. Also it required sign on each time you... More

The hotel is located right on Gran Via, which is the nerve centre of Madrid. The hotel is well managed, very comfortable and promises all facilities. The room was of a good size and the service is friendly. A lot of things are walking distance from the hotel.

Stayed at the hotel for four nights. My room was on the 10th floor not facing the street and without an external window. The room is small, noises are easily heard from neighbors on the upper floor and from next rooms. Internet access is free at 10 KBps for web and email only and even after paying 6 euro for... More

The hotel is in a good neighborhood and convenient to restaurants, theatres, parks, etc. Our group was there for three nights before moving onto to other cities in Spain. If I had to go back to Madrid (I'd rather not since this was the fourth time), I would probably stay here again.

Really difficult to give a negative review!! This senator is tacky! Very peculiar layout! Awkward and tight approach to the lifts and then onto the rooms... We had connecting doubles! Each room was huge! Very basic but rather large bathrooms, with excellent showers and drains!! The interior was very odd!! Wood Laminate floors, rough bed sheets, white tube lights...except for... On the whole really nice hotel. Great location, just round the corner from the Royal Palace, couple of minutes walk to the centre, four metro stations nearby etc. The hotel was clean, nice big room, good cafe, nice staff etc…..but there was an odd smell emanating from the bathroom at times. Nothing dreadful, just maybe not what it should have... More

We only stayed for one night, but had the best stay, the staff are so friendly and polite, the rooms are a little bit out dated but they were very spacious, there was three of us ladies, we shared a triple room on the 4th floor facing the street, people have written that they found it noisy, these people must... Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
