We stayed here to attend the Madrid Tennis championships. The hotel was very nice and clean and the staff were extremely helpful. The hotel was situated extremely well for transportation and different cafes, shopping and walking. We had a very enjoyable stay and only one small criticism. Whatever disinfectant/cleaner is used, particularly in toilet and passageway areas could be changed as... More

We left this hotel after the second night. The shower had problems with giving cold then hot water. The AC only worked full blast or not at all. Very incomfortable. The reception told us they would have it taken care of. Nothing was resolved, so we deciced to move.

The location and rooms were excellent, but the food was very mediocre, often cold and very uninteresting. The wine was poor and expensive. Having said that, because of the good location I would stay there again, and only book bed and breakfast.

This place has a REAL breakfast! Full and extensive. A much welcomed change after weeks of continental breakfasts. Employees have been gracious and accommodating. Room was clean and well serviced. My one big complaint. .. the thermostat is locked at 22. I had to go to the desk to have them lower the temp to 19 as it was a... More

Sorry couldn't find anything else wrong with it. Brilliant location, staff and food for our group of 36 geriatrics. Easy to deal with when booking. Coach was able to park outside to pickup the group for excursions. Peter

I recently stayed at the Ganivet Hotel for a short break. It is a pretty average hotel which is what I paid for and I would recommend for short breaks only. The location was fine as it was pretty near two metro stations. There was plenty on offer for breakfast but more than a couple of days I figure it... More

The hotel was convienently located within walking distance of many of the sites we wanted to see. The rooms were clean and well maintained, the showers are typical European size so not great for us above average size people. The staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke English. Taxi to and from the airports are a flat rate of... More

We booked this hotel reading the decent reviews about this hotel and its central location. No doubt on the location being central and in close proximity to tourist attractions, this was the worst 4 night stay of our 24 night europe tour stay. We were first given a handicapped room which had extremely loud neighbors, another major loophole in the... More

We arrived to a nice friendly lobby and a swift check in, rooms and bathroom were a little on the smaller side but that's to be expected in this part of the world, they were however clean with fresh linen. There is also a problem with drawer space....very limited as we also found this in other hotels so it is... More

This hotel was what I would consider a little more of a budget hotel. Iit was decorated nicely in the lobby, had a large breakfast room with a great breakfast and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were simple but large enough to accommodate our family. The bathroom had very little counter space, but we were able... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
