Elegant hotel with charm and character in the heart of the city. My bedroom was comfortable, clean, well-maintained and cool (38 degrees outside). The public spaces are equally pleasant with the efficient old-style lift adding to the delight of staying here. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We are an active mature couple who love to walk and experience the city we are in. This hotel was in the heart of Cuecka (the gay section). It had a lively feel whenever we walked out of the hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful, had an old fashioned elevatory with iron gates. Room was very adequate. Air conditioning great.... More

Stayed only one night but will definitely stay here again. Reasonable size rooms with comfortable beds and a great location right near Grand via metro. The breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of hot and cold foods. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

Location was central off Gran Via. Subway stop on the corner. Hotel is elegant and the gated elevator sets the tone. Room had two balconies and good sized bathroom. Breakfast for 10 euros was huge. Staff is young and pleasant but not well informed. It is a great deal for the price. Don't pass this one up.

Nice family-friendly hotel. Well located in Gran Via but in a quiet bystreet. Family room had a double bedrom plus a bunk bed. Comfortable mattress. Not big but enough space for a couple of days/short stay. Bathroom with shower: correct and clean. Airco worked well. Room drawbacks: since cheap furniture it is quite worn out; the squeaky wood floor may... More

This hotel is in a terrific location on a small side street, just steps from the Gran Via. Very charming and comfortable. I am planning to return to wonderful Madrid and will most definitely stay in this hotel again. (it has a cool old fashioned style elevator.)

Dear PHilly. Thank you for the great review of our hotel. Regarding the elevator, we can not modify anything because is historic and it is protected. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon. Sincerely, Susana Romero Front Desk Manager More

OK so lets start on a positive... The staff are excellent. Very friendly and efficient both in email communication pre-arrival and onsite. They speak excellent English. Location in terms of being near things you can only say excellent. We didn't experience any issues with the lift at all, even though some previous posts say it causes problems if someone doesn't... Few words for this review. One of the best value for money hotel I have ever experienced in Spain. I don't know if the offer I found on a travel site was extremely favourable (vs. standard prices), but certainly I got an excellent quality for a renewed hotal in a favourable position in downtown. Only area of improvement is perahps... More

Hotel was in a great location, as it's close to Gran Via, Puerta del Sol, and Chueca is a fun area as well. We were not impressed with the quality of the room, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. This wasn't a huge issue for us as we were out enjoying the city most of the time; however, out of... Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
