We had the pleasure of staying at the hotel for three nights. The location is great, the hotel cozy, the staff is polite and helpful, but the rooms and the common area didn´t match out expectations. A **** hotel must have a pool and a gym, the bar can´t close at 23 o´clock, the breakfast is expensive (19 EUR/pers.) and... More

Perfect location, nice rooms, and good breakfast. Close to all the attractions as Plaza Mayor Square, Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral, the tourist buses. Also a lot of restaurants and bars in the streets behind the hotel. About 10 minutes walk to the train station, the botanic garden and Park the retiro.

1. Location. 2 minutes from del sol and Plaza Mayor. GREAT ! 2. We stayed in room 105. A little noise from the street but not such that cause you not to sleep. (The windows are anti-noise windows) 3. Room are clean and good. 4. Breakfast is good. You have almost everything you need in a good breakfast. 5. Stuff... More

Good hotel. Location excellent. Staff very good and helpful, especially Angela. Rooms have some early morning traffic noise. Unfortunately bar closes at 23:00 and we couldn't get a nightcap despite it not quite being 23:00 as bar was already closed.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights when we were in Madrid to watch Real Madrid play football. The room we had was a standard one and it had a super king bed which was very comfy. The room faced on to an inner courtyard and it was very quiet. There was a charger in the wall for... More

This hotel is placed in a perfect spot. It is close to Puerta del Sol where you find shops, metro, renfe and all you need. There are also a lot of restaurants nearby. The breakfast cost 19€/person and night and it is not worth it. We had breakfast on a nearby restaurant instead and we landed on approx 12-15€/person and... More

Dear Victoria; Thank you very much for your review, it always helps us to improve in our service. Regarding your complaints, I am not sure if you had our breakfast buffet or not, as you did not mentionned it. You can find other options, and some of them are cheaper, but our buffet has a wide variety of products that... More

Lovely hotel in a nice, historic building, a few minutes walk from Plaza Santa Ana. The room was fine, inner courtyard facing (so was really quiet), probably a good thing as Atocha is a fairly busy street. The bed was really comfortable, slept perfectly. There's not much need to open the windows, but when we did, cigarette smoke could be... More

The hotel is in an ideal location of Madrid and easy to get around. Our room was very nicely furnished and very comfortable overlooking the court yard. The only issue was that the room was very warm at night and were informed that the air conditioning could not be switched on until May. The staff were very polite and directed... More

we spend four days in Madrid during the Easter weekend and we stay at Puerta del Sol Hotel. The Hotel is placed very centrally. It is a very nice starting point to discover the city by foot. The Hotel is officially a four stars, but the rooms are quite simple. We don't smoke, but we got a smokers room which... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
