Excellent location, right near the subway station, great staff, clean and comfortable both bedroom and bathroom, no complaints at all. We went as a group of friends on a business trip and the hostal's location was perfect to enjoy simultaneously Madrid's restaurants and nightlife.

Stayed 3 days end of March with two teen kids and enjoyed it. Service was correct, had no problems. Check-in and check-out needs pre-coordination. The room was for 4 with bathroom. It was clean and pleasant, properly equipped. If you get one facing the firewall (without balcony), will be silent, providing good sleep, though preventing from ventilation. Ours should have... First time visiting Madrid. The hostel was located 2 minutes from Sol in a great location within a short walk of Gran Via too. The quality of the rooms was excellent and the service from the staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend as a reasonably prices option with quick links on foot or by Metro to many of... excellent location, beautiful and newly decorated, clean and very spacious rooms, even the bathroom was very spacious, friendly staff ready to help, the rooms well sound-proofed, even though we were on the first floor of the night from the road noise is not heard, good location also due to the availability to metro, restaurants, attractions, a good value for the... We stayed here for 5 nights. This place is newly renovated and located on a side street off Plaza de Sol. It's on a first floor walk up of what seems to be a partial residential building. It's so newly renovated the reception staff walked us to our room as they were putting up the door numbers the day we... More

First, it's VERY close to the metro and very centrally located! Just on the location alone, I give Hostal Castiila II a TOP rating!!! Second, our room was HUGE and was fully equipped with kitchen facilites, which was a great and wonderful surprise to us! The room was in a secure and safe area, and a very nice (charming building).... More

Hostal Castilla II is located very near Aston Martin metro station and walking distance from Plaza Mayor. Salim, the manager there is from pakistan and was very courteous and helpful. The Hostal has free wifi, rooms are decently sized, very functional and basic, with AC if required. The Hostal is best for its location and free wifi, everything else is... More

Ok- it's not 5 star but you're not paying 5 star prices. It is perfectly adequate budget accomodation. Clean rooms - towels etc changed daily. The biggest plus for this hotel is its location. Very quiet little street - but only 2 minutes walk from Puerto del Sol or Plaza Mayor, right in the heart of Madrid. Plenty of eating... More

The location is definitely the best, you can basically walk to most of the nice areas of Madrid in less than 30minutes. The hotel is quite well isolated from the street but not the several rooms from the corridor... The quality of the room are ok, clean and not really old. The staff average. Big asset -> Interesting price for... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
