Our EF group stayed here for 2 nights. The location was great - across from Atocha train station, waling distance to major plazas, the Reina Sophia museum, the Prado, the Real garden Botanico, the Parque de el Retiro, restaurants and shops. Rooms are typically small, but comfortable. Staff was professional and helpful Wifi available and connected well. Upper level has... More

Flew into Madrid from the USA, needed a place to stay before taking the train the next day to Cordoba. Found Hotel Mediodia. Great location, right across from the Atoche train station in Madrid. Had a balcony view of the square behind the hotel. Double-paned windows helped to keep the street noise out. Big room, minimalist furniture. Very nice staff.... More

The location is worth putting up with the very uncomfortable beds. Out of the 4 hotels I stayed at in Spain this was the most uncomfortable beds/pillows. I was in a queen side bed and they give you one pillow the length of the bed. The pillow was one of the most uncomfortable I have ever been on. Thank goodness... More

The hotel is accessible to public transport, is at good location. The rooms are rather small but their staff are friendly and pleasant. The neighborhood was quiet in the evening. Wifi is good and easy to connect. Rooms are clean and tidy.

Located in front of the Atocha station. Close to the Retiro, the Raina Sofia museum, the Prado; walking distance from the Plaza del Sol, Plaza Santa Anna .... Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms but a bit outdated. Lots of street noise, I could hardly sleep. Slow wifi

Spent 7 days in Mediodia which was excellent. The hotel is only a couple of minutes away from buses, metro or trains. Prado museum is a 10 minute walk and also Retiro Park. Reina Sofia museum is only round the corner from the hotel. Also a lot of restaurants close by offering a big variety of food. The hotel staff... More

We booked this hotel when visiting our daughter in Madrid, mainly because the location was near her apt. We had no idea what to expect, but we really enjoyed our 4 night stay there. The location seemed very convenient -- train station nearby, subway stop very close, and taxis available in front of the hotel. Lots of food and drink... More

You could not miss the name of this hotel in HUGE letters right across the top of the building! We flew in from Bristol at 10.00pm en route to Jerez de la Frontera needing somewhere to stay overnight in Madrid which was easily accessible to Atocha station in readiness for our early departure the next day. We had chosen and... More

This was probably once a top hotel in Madrid back in the 1940's but it seems that it hasn't really changed since. Its almost like a step back in time. The reception at first glance maintains some of its old grandeur but on closer inspection its tired with veneer peeling off of the reception deck. It was quite quaint to... More

I have spent there 1 night only. I had a room with small balcony facing to the inner square where there was a gallery and some restaurants. That was amazing in the evening to simply listen Spanish music and vibe of city. Internet was slow. Room was big with plain facilities. Style quite old but satisfactory. It is just 2... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
