We stayed here for three nights with a school party of 24 students. Receptionists were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and modern. Some were slightly cramped for 4 people. Breakfast was excellent with fruit, yoghurt, cold meats and pastries - no complaints from any of the students. Would definitely stay again.

The large hotel Mediodia is very well situated for the citycenter and the museum quarter. Mediodia is opposite Atocha Railway Station (with indoor palm garden on the earlier platforms), but you certainly do not suffer from train noise. The street outside the hotel is busy and therefore we slept with the door closed to the small balcony. Reina Sofia Museum... More

Pros: Great location, <5 min walk from Atocha Rail and <2 min walk from Atocha Metro station. Reasonable rates. Clean facilities. Cons: Rooms a bit noisy and dated. No running water one of the days I was there from 9AM - 5PM. This didn't affect me too much as I was sightseeing, yet not a great way to start a... More

this hotel it's in front of Atocha railway station and 5 minutes walking from the terminal where bus to Barajas airport leaves. You can reach Plaza Major in half an hour by foot otherwise You can take the underground. I paid € 88,00 for 2 nights without breakfast in December.

The hotel is a walking distance from Atocha train station (just across the street ) and there is a frequent bus from this station to Barajas Airport and back ,so the transfers are easy and not painful. The hotel is in the El Prado museum area , you can walk if the weather and time allows (30-40 min ) or... More

The Mediodia Hotel is conveniently situated between the Atocha train station and the Reina Sofia Museum. The rooms are a bit small but adequate for a night's stay. The hotel is rated two stars but it should actually receive a higher rating. The public areas and breakfast lounge are decorated stylishly. The continental breakfast is basic and does not include... I stayed here one night. I selected this hotel because it was located near Atocha. In fact you walk out and cross the street toward the Reina Sofia Museo and the hotel is right next door. The next morning early I caught the express bus to the airport. The bus stop is at the same street level at Atocha but... More

I stayed here for one night in December, in transit via Madrid. This hotel is not deluxe and the rooms are not large but it is clean and it is really well located - near the Atocha train station and also some of the sight-seeing attractions such as the El Prado. So, I thought the price was good given the... More

We went on the 3rd-5th October 2014 for a weekend break to Madrid with school. The hotel is approx. 15-20 mins away from Madrid Barajas in car/coach. We checked in to a beautiful hotel, with marble staircases, statues, flowers etc. and the lobby is probably the most stunning/pretty part. The lifts are very old and creek a lot - many... More

The location of this hotel is excellent - we arrived at night and as we got off the airport bus at the Atocha rail station(recommended, 40 mins to city centre, get it right outside the airport terminal, and costs 5 Euros) we saw the illuminated sign for the hotel and walked there in minutes. Staff very helpful, most able to... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
