The rooms are simple, clean, and safe. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic - less than a 5 min walk to the Plaza Mayor / Puerta del Sol, 10 min to the Atocha train station, 10 min to the Prado, 20 min to the Parque del Retiro... It's not fancy, but it's clean and feels safe... More

I choose the hostal because the price they quoted came with a private bathroom and it was centrally located. Upon reaching there i felt it is better than usual hostal, more like a budget hotel. The lift is working fine, staff was friendly and helpful, the biggest advantage easily accessible from the train (renfe) station as well as the airport.... More

This hostel was very clean, excellent value for money and in a good location. Close to a metro stop with most sights close enough. Unfortunately they don't do breakfast , but there is a lovely coffee shop with sandwiches and croissants. I have used this hostel four times in about 10 years, friendly staff

Hostal Cervelo is within easy reach of several Metro stops which makes it very easy to access. It is in a good part of town for tourists, but may not be ideal from a safety perspective if you're travelling as a single female. We arrived at the main property and were told that we were going to be accommodated at... More

The hostel has been a very comfortable place where to rest. In a very central position, it is very clean, you have your own bathroom and free Internet wifi connection! The personel doesn't talk too much, but obviously if you need help, they are there to give you assistance. You have lots of different bar or place where you can... More

The hostal Cervelo is located near all the major attraction and sites in Madrid. Within walking distance from the Atocha rail station. They provided exact information on how to get to this location from the airport via rail and it was easy. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great value. If you are looking for a 4 start location, this is not... More

Although the location of this hotel is excellent, particularly given its price, we got little sleep for the two nights we stayed there. We were in one of the rooms near reception overlooking the main road. Whilst the the busy street was fairly noisy this was nothing compared to the buzzer used by guests in order to enter the hotel.... More

Within walking distance to all the attractions. The hotel staff spoke excellent English, and were very helpful. Very clean rooms, with nice bathrooms. Quiet as well. PC available for use.

It’s a hostel, but it can be treated as something much better. They have several buidings, and we were moved to another one (comapratively to the address of the hostel). The room was wonderful: creative interior, good furniture and bathroom. We felt like at the appartment, not in a room of a hotel! Location was very convinient, not far from... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
