I went to Hostal San Lorenzo in summer 2007 with my parents and sister, and it was a nice and comfortable experience. We stayed for 4 nights and the bedroom was always spotlessly clean, daily bed sheets change and fresh towels every day. We got an amazing room with 1 queensize bed for my parents and 2 single beds for... more

Just back from a couple of days at the hostal San Lorenzo. The hostal was easy enough to find once we got off the metro and the staff were very quick at getting us booked in. All members of staff we spoke to were fluent in English, so we had no problems there. The twin rooms we booked were adequate... more

I am a single staright male.I stayed for one night at a good price. SAN LORENZO is in a great central location. The walls are thin so you here noise if there is any. I stayed on monday night so it was ok. The only reason I would not like to stay again is that there is No Fire Escape... more

I arrived carrying several bags, as I have been studying in Madrid for 2 months and have acquired many things. Upon checking in alone, I was given a key to my room. My friend, who was getting food at a local store, came up to my room and helped my unpack. We left, and went thru the lobby together (they... more

I really enjoyed this hotel. It is very well located, near metro and sights. I was staying there alone, and a single room was 65 euro. My room was on the courtyard, so I had no noise problems. I stayed in other European cities on this trip for about the same prices, and this room was way nicer. It had... more

This hotel was outstanding for the price. I stayed at the Hostel Lorenzo with my girlfriend for 5 nights in July 2007 and paid 390EUR. It was in an excellent location and easy walking distance to the city centre, tourist sights, restaurants and bars. The room and en-suite bathroom were modern, exceptionally clean and a good size. The room also... more

The San Lorenzo is a 3* hotel located in a very good position just off the Gran Vía (close to the Sol area of Madrid). The hotel is served by a small but modern lift which goes from the ground floor lobby to all floors above. Reception is a spacious area on the first floor where maps, newspapers and mini-cards... more

Our experience in this hostal (not a hotel !) proves that the best location should not be always the main reference when we plan where to stay. The cleanness is probably the best label that Hostal San Lorenzo has to offer. Unfortunately, in the whole appreciation this good remark is ruined by a “bouquet” of bad, even intolerable behaviour, showing... more

It is in a great location--we could walk every where!! However, we did get ripped off by the cab driver coming from the airport--he charged us 40 euros for the ride! The staff personel were very helpful and nice. The room was the biggest disaster! We had a family room which according to the hotel would sleep 4 people comfortably!... more

I should have re-read & heeded the previous reviews on this lousy hotel. Although it is located near the metro and in the central area in Gran Via/Chueca, be prepared not to get any sleep, as the rooms are above a noisy street, where you will be kept awake by the bars below at night and the garbage trucks early... more
