I've stayed here numerous times over the past 10+ years. As a single woman I felt very safe from the very beginning with a doorman who whisked away people who tried to bother me at an outdoor table. You are more likely to encounter other tourists than Spaniards but will find them and staff friendly and helpful. This is exactly... More

We arrived on Sat afternoon. This hotel is located smack in pedestrian street (ie not accessable by taxi!). Even during normal working days the pedestrian street are crowded, imagine how pack the place is during weekends! Seems like all madridians like to go out so much. The taxi driver just unload us at one end od the street that is... More

The hotel sits right off of the Puerto Del Sol and is walking distance to many of the local attractions. The rooms were clean and large for european standards and the staff was great. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid!!

Excellent location in the central square of the old part of Madrid, everywhere we wanted to go to was within walking distance. Ask for room overlooking the main square for great view - solid shutters etc keep the noise out, be aware they party all night at weekends ! Room/facilities were good without being outstanding, service excellent - only criticism... More

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Europa. It is a comfortable 3 star hotel - right on the the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. The view of the lovely square in the early morning is wonderful. It gets very crowded during the rest of the day, and at night. Our windows and shutters kept out the noise.... More

We booked based on trip advisor, and Rick Steve's. I have to admit being a VERY light sleeper I was nervous about the location and room being noisy. Not to worry, we asked for an inner room and it was one of the quietest rooms I've ever stayed in. The Windows were so good you didn't hear a thing! I... More

Good hotel right on Puerta del Sol, the heart of Madrid. Very close to a subway stop, and a good central location for walking to the Prado and other museums, the Royal Palace, shopping, restaurants, etc. Staff were helpful and spoke English. Room was pretty basic, but clean and a good value, especially considering I didn't spend much time in... More

Stayed here for two nights for a trip to watch Liverpool play Real Madrid in the Champions League. Hotel is located perfectly for shopping on Grand Via and ideal to get on the Metro. Rooms very clean, only negative I can think of is that it would've been nice to have coffee / tea making facilities in the room.

The Hotel Europa is a gem. It is very reasonably priced for what you get---a nice hotel, competent staff, fabulous location. We loved being on the Place del Sol, especially on Halloween night, when the square was filled with ghouls, geishas, and assorted other rarely seen types. The Place del Sol is a major metro and train hub, so what... More

Totally beyond our expectations! The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The view onto the Main square from our balcony was incredibly beautiful at night. Hotel coffee bar has great breakfast. The hotel has an outside eating area where you can enjoy the comings and goings of people as you enjoy a bowl of spaghetti with a great red wine.... More
