stayed for a weekend only, amazing place - close to wonderful and magnicifant places like Puerta del Sol, and centrally located in general. Plenty of bars and restaurant around for night life lovers. would stay again

Very clean property, spacious room, very friendly staff. These are some of the positive aspects of this hotel. The coffee and breakfast area is also very good and authentic place to get a quick and tasty (Spanish) breakfast. But my favorite aspect is the location: in the middle of the city. You are close to everything, yet you can have... More

Had a great stay at this hotel. Only stayed 2 nights however it is in a great location, the staff are helpful and I have nothing bad to say about it. The Puerta del Sol is right outside, the train station is just moments away. Many great shops and places to eat nearby.

The hotel is very centrally located and despite the press of the crowd outside the hotel at night, it was very quiet inside and I say this noting we were right on the active side street. The staff were generally knowledgeable and approachable. It was a great location for activities, metro access, and local restaurants.

this hotel was ideally situated for us. We were able to take the metro into the city from the airport and when we got out the hotel was just steps away. The restaurant adjacent to the property has a great lunch special-3 courses including a drink. We were able to walk to all the sites we wanted to see from... More

Hotel Europa probably has the best location in Madrid. It is located right in the middle of the busiest plaza in the city, Puerta del Sol, with easy Metro connections to everywhere else. There is so much energy and activity in the plaza all the time. You can walk to all the important streets and tourist attractions right from there.... More

Great location. Comfortable with windows open. Too warm when windows closed. Very noisy outside all night. Had to close windows and too warm. Very close to the airport. Very close to the subway. Many shops and restaurants in walking distance.

We stayed at Hotel Europa 9 years ago and just finished our second stay there last week. It's a great hotel in a great central location. The rooms were high quality, clean, quiet, air conditioned and the front desk was helpful with anything we needed. We would not stay anywhere else in Madrid.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Loved overlooking the town square and feeling all the energy of Madrid. Would recommend. Would stay again. Was easy to navigate through the city because of location.

From here we could walk to the palace, a multitude of shops, old and royal Madrid and lovely plazas to sit and relax with tapas and a drink. Both the metro and hop on/off buses were opposite. Very clean and spacious rooms and a similar quality hotel in a similar location in London would surely cost a fortune? Will go... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
