A very good hotel to stay and to explore Madrid and other places near by , the hotel is near the station of Sol.Our room was of good size and clean. There was a little noise from the square of Sol but did't bother us.

You can't beat the location of Hotel Europa. It's conveniently located near a metro station in Plaza del Sol. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in helping make plans and providing information. Hotel rooms are solid, and the air conditioning was welcomed in the heat of the summer.

This hotel is in the perfect location, right in the heart of Puerta del Sol. It is modern and luxurious, but with great rates. And the shower was the best we have ever experienced at any hotel! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and stored our luggage for us when we checked out. I will definitely stay here again... More

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location is excellent. We stayed on the 6th foor with a terrace, which had a broken chair. When I mentioned the chair with the receptionist, she seemed indifferent. I wish they could be more considerate.

We stayed in this hotel for five nights in June 2015. We really enjoyed this place. We got a third floor corner room (as requested) overlooking the Puerta del Sol, where the action never really stops. When we retired to our room for the night, we finished the day watching the street performers on the plaza below, then closed the... More

Welcome to Madrid!! Central location on plaza. Spotless and very nice staff. Good sized rooms with very nice bathrooms. Very cool cafeteria ideal for people watching. Right in the middle of it all with dignity. Place seems very well run. A lot of street noise out front. Not a romantic, quiet place. Not the ritz but so nice in most... More

The Europa is centrally located. It is a clean, quiet, place. The amenities are simpl. No frills. The Price is great and super reasonable considering the location right at the Puerto de Sol. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

Located in the Puerta del Sol area, the Hotel Europa not only offers an incredible location, but a welcoming, helpful staff and comfortable rooms that make for a great experience in Madrid. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to the Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real and Plaza Cibeles all in a matter of 5-15 minutes. There are tons... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
