The location is great, near Puerta del Sol. Quite expensive for a hostel. New mattresses would be a good investment and I wouldn't call the coffee and cereal breakfast but I guess Spanish people don't eat breakfast. Our room, private, was big enough. The bathroom is small but has what you need.

Me and a mate stayed here for 3 nights, the room was small but we could not complain because it was everything we needed, just a place to sleep. The staff were all very friendly, slight language barrier but got around it easy enough! Great location, very easy to get metro to everywhere, although we were walking 5-10 minutes to... More

Great location, great accomodation and amazing staff. Ruben and co. will make you feel at home, or even better. They're fun, helpful and really love what they do. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Will be back!

I had decided to stay there for a week but ended up leaving early because of how rude the guy at the front desk was. I always smiled at him and was super polite. This one day I was about to cook in the kitchen and he came storming in and yelled at me that I couldn't cook because I... More

I honestly do not understand your opinion, the days that you stayed used the kitchen, you can say more, remember that one night did a dinner along with a roommate we remember that we invite both a glass of wine. You left very happy and even have a note from you in the guest book saying it was a very... More

So far this is the best hostel I have ever been. The place is clean and nice and people are really friendly. It is also close the train station, plaza mayor and San Miguel markets. I had awesome time in Madrid.

Very clean and comfortable place to spend your time in Madrid in the centre of the city. Very helpful staff in everything you may need. I would truly recommend it. The kitchen is very useful when you do not want to spend all your money in restaurants outside!

I spent 3 days at this hostel in Madrid with some friends at the beginning of the month. Empathy was splendid from the very beginning. The kitchen was very useful an in perfect conditions. Both the bathrooms and the bedroom were totally refurnished. Outstanding was to sleep in the center of the city so cheaply. 100 % guaranteed.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
