This is a great hostel in the sense of location (close to la gran via, plaza de cibeles, puerta del sol, plaza mayor, prado...), you don't even have to use public transportation. Even though it doesn't look like much, it's clean, there's free wifi and breakfast is included. And also, if you are looking for a place only to leave your... More

The food is delicious and the people in charge treat the guests nicely. It's not cold at night in here, and I was here during the beginning of March. Unfortunately, the door of my room and the beds grinded loudly with the slightest touch. It was hard to sleep. I don't know if it's OK to complain about how they're... More

Our room was tiny and had 7 beds crammed in with some lockers. We slept in the living room that night as the others in our room were ill and the staff were cool about this which was great. The beds however were comfortable and did the job. The room and location was really quite and had a really good... More

We stayed there for a whole week, lovely room, and the place was always clean. It is centrally located -right downtown, in Chueca, the trendy area of Madrid, just a few minutes walk to the main subway station (airport), plaza mayor, sol, gran via and el retiro park. The staff, like all Spaniards, were so friendly, making sure at all... More

Among the hostels I stayed in during my month backpacking in Europe, I was very pleased with this one. Although the facilites are average and the building itself feels a bit cramped, it was clean and the staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. Great location too.

Stayed here 5 nights & never again. My roommate & I requested heat turned on in our room, the staff said maybe you should stay somewhere else, he also ate or threw out my pizza. At 11:30PM you are asked to whisper only, kitchen seats 4 people & closes at 11PM, 5 mins into the shower water up to your... More

After 2 night we stayed here..eveything is great from the staff, breakfast, to their lounge and bathroom..since its near to my room..the only thing that we're dont agree is we hv to do our own bed sheet like put it on etc..then after checking out we hv to return all the sheets to the staff which is quite irrelevant for... I stay at the Barbiere International near Chueca and it's really nice. It's very small and quiet and the staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms, bathroom, kitchen is cleaned everyday and they even make your bed! Everyone has their own locker with a key, free of charge. The kitchen could be a bit bigger but otherwise everything is fine.... More

The hostel is very pretty and the staff is so kind! Rooms and common space are always clean and orderly. You can cooking in the kitchen and every morning there's breakfast until 10. They borrow you hairdryer if you need (for free). They provide you bed sheets and a locker with your key to keep your staff in the shared... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
