I had to go there with my blind friend. It's very close from the centre and the staff was very welcoming but the rooms were crowded and very busy. We couldn't have a silent night there. I recommend it for adventurous people

A nice clean place. No nonsense accomodation. Does what it says on the tin. I was given room keys and clean bedding and was checked in smoothly. Staff were helpful. Gave me good advice on taxis, trains etc. Location is very central. All in all not a bad place to put your head down on the budget!

When I was checkin hostel, one guy of reception not spoken English, and one other guy of reception was drunk. They are not read instructions from booking mail and I should pay for hostel one more time. Was only one shower and WC (together on one room!) on one floor. Moreover, in the room were cockroaches, the keys did not... More

it was really nice staying there. I had a bed at a room for 5 women - with bathroom. the whole hostel was clean and very stylish; the staff was really nice and caring.. it takes you only 2 minutes to plaza mayor. I was really happy staying there thus I really recommend it :-)

“ Having departed the hostel I felt like I would come back again. But right after departure I found out that the hostel charged me an extra amount of 26 euros on my credit card for unknown reasons. Having reported to the hostel stuff of my problem I got a reply from a lady called Nuria, that they have no... More

I booked the hostel because it was much cheaper than the other options on hostelworld, and expected to find an old, run down building (which would have been fine, too). I honestly thought I might have been in the wrong place when I arrived--the hostel is beautiful, impeccably clean, and immediately stylish. The receptionist was helpful and friendly, and even... Good location! 2minute walk to the royal palace and cathedral and only 5minutes to plaza mayor. Clean room, bathroom and kitchen, the staff were friendly, showed me around the hostel and to my room. Definitely stay here again

I spent my first three nights in Madrid on my own and the Meeting Point was definitely a highlight for me. The staff was considerate and kind. The location is great for walking or bike riding all over the city. Clean and simple Hostel. I will be back here next time I come back to Madrid! Hasta luego!

This hostel is real nice. It's quite new and the rooms are nice and clean, as are the facilities. The location is also pretty great, cause it's close to the Royal Palace and to the big Sol square. We were there with a big group and they gave us a couple of rooms to ourselfs. 24-hour reception is also a... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
