Hostel Meeting Point offers that rare combination which is the holy grail of all backpackers - a spirit of freewheeling, anarchic fun; chance meetings and new friends galore; and above all a staff that is willing to wink at the rules and jump in feet first. Who WOULDN'T want to stay in a place where you are liable to meet... More

The only good thing about this hostel is a location. Everything other, a bit shame for hostel and stuff. We were staying in the room of 8, but actually this was the room where the staff sleeping. Cleanliness was awful. Especially in the kitchen and bathroom. Only one toilet for whole basement floor (one shower, and one toilet). Too little... More

Worst hostel I've been this year... The staff is not well prepared, it has few bathrooms outside of the bedrooms, the shower was too hot or too cold always. The bathroom is not well divided, and they have strange rules (for an example, we cannot take shower after 11h30 p.m.). The only good thing was the location.

Overall this hostel would be best judged as a party hostel and as such it's probably pretty good. When you're looking for a quiet place to sleep and eat while visiting the city though it falls a bit short. Did not have a good nights sleep as the rooms are very noisy until late at night. The kitchen is tiny... More

Hostels Meetingpoint its not a party hostel at all...obviusly as a hostel we have several shared rooms..so in some of them some guests there are more party than others,..we have security an reception open 24 hours just to control all kind of incidents as noisy guests etc...we love our travelers having good time with us that`s why we have public... Hostel Meeting Point is located in a great location. It's a fun hostel with very friendly staffs. It is very easy to meet people if you are travelling alone or in a group. One of the staff, Uddip, organises food and wine tour, which I would highly recommend. He also cooks Paella on weekends, which is one of the best... More

Terrible terrible stay. I stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. The location is good, and it is pretty cheap but, had I been intending to stay in the city for much longer I would have moved out after the first night as it was not a pleasant place to be. The most serious problem happened on the second day,... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
