Great staff, very clean and an unbeatable location. Situated pretty much in the centre of Madrid and a few minutes walk from the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Bornemisza. The rooms are quite small (at least ours was) and the beds could have been a little bit bigger but for a few days in Madrid it was perfect.

This hostal was really great&cheap. It's in the centre of Madrid-great location. Hostal was clean, modern. Every room has got own TV, bathroom and toilet. It's very small hostal, but it doesn't matter. Most of the day we were out of the hostal, basically it was just for sleeping, but it was nice.

We stayed here for 2 nights from 24th January in a triplet (Room 4o3). It is like a palace at the entrance. We stayed on 4th floor, but the lift was always operating. The room was comfortable, the bathroom was really nice (and clean). First it was hard to find how to operate the tap at the tub, but I... More

We chose Hostal Astoria for location - near major museums - and price - modest. There is no reason to go elsewhere: clean, firm beds, lots of hot water in the shower, good maid service, 24-desk multilingual staff and video security and a quick walk to good eating, Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor and museums. A couple caveats: if... More

Great central location just a few mins walk from Puerta del Sol, and very friendly, welcoming staff. This place really fell far short of expectations; the two rooms I stayed in were very different from the selection of photos. The rooms were very tired and in need of updating, and the sanitary ware in the bathrooms was very worn and... More

The hostal has a great location, close to important touristic points. The staff was always friendly. The room was not to small compared to other places with the same budget. It had good beds with a good air conditioner. The only problem was that at the first day the shower was not working well. I asked to fix it, but... More

Hostel is perfectly situated in the heart of Madrid, only a few minutes walk from Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Cibeles and the strip of museums. What makes it better is how affordable the rooms are! Our experience would've been better if they had nicer staff. They were not warm at all; they seemed hesitant to answer our questions and... More

If you are visiting Madrid, and you are looking for a 5 star Hotel because you want to walk around much, than this is the right one. Absolutely. 30 Euros for one night and in the very center of madrid, plaza mayor, sol, gran via, huertas, everything is in waking distance, and it is soooo quiet, you can enjoy the... More

We were booked on the fifth floor which is a two star floor, but the receptionist gave us a room on the fourth floor which was a 3 star for the same price. The hostel room was small but enough for me and my boyfriend. We had everything such as TV, a good air conditioner, hydro message shower, towels and... More

This was such an excellent hotel, an undiscovered gem in the heart of the city. Impressive from the start. Perfectly located, spacious and spotless lobby with staff who speak English. They can help find places using their internet, and they also have city maps. The corridors have individually lit pictures. I had a single en-suite room, faultlessly clean, everything worked... More
