in august 2015 we stayed in the hostal central palace for the third time. again we enjoyed the excellent location, the balcony with a view to the palace, the nearness to the city, friendly staff and the modern design in an old residential building. this hostal will be again the first choice for us in madrid in the future.

It's a bit of a funny place to find but once you are in, it is all you need! Great wifi, new rooms and great location! I had a room with a view and it was worth it! The only downside is there was a piano man playing until midnight every night but who sleeps early in Spain! Madrid's must... More

You can’t beat the location, right across the way from the Royal Palace. We booked a room with a view of the Palace, which was breathtaking. The rooms are large and clean and the reception staff was very accommodating. Just a couple of issues I’ll mention are that if you have a Palace view room, the noise from the café... More

Nothing to say ! We had a perfect stay ! The reception was very friendly and helpful. The room, surprisingly large for this type of hotel, was clean comfortable, with windows opening right in front of Royal Palace ! Breakfast (maybe a little light...) was delicious and really enjoyable, on the terrace of Cafe Oriente, just downstairs... I see non... More

Firstly you will need a SAT NAV to locate this place if you are driving as it is quite difficult to navigate the road layout. The hotel is situated adjacent to the wonderful palace and this can be seen from your balcony providing you have booked a room with a view. The location of the hotel is everything, it's a... More

If you see a place named Hostel, you become a bit annoying. Common bathrooms, small rooms. Although Central Palace named hostel, it is clearly a nice hotel. If you want a hotel - Clean - Centrally located. Literally! - Affordable in Madrid, Central Palace is the right one. All ladies in the reception are smiling and trying to help 24... More

Great central location, our room was beautifully furnished and we would highly recommend the Central Palace to anyone going to Madrid. Lovely reception on arrival and great views of the Royal Palace and gardens from our room. A real hidden gem

Hostal Central Palace was in a great location with plenty of nice places to grab breakfast nearby before taking a stroll around Madrid. We were very pleasantly surprised to find how spacious our room was when we arrived, and to see that it included a kitchen area with fridge, sink and microwave. We booked a room with no view of... We loved this place. The room was huge with kitchen facilities . The bathroom was modern and the best shower we have had in all of Spain. The reception girls were delightful and extremely helpful. We were even able to have a shower after we had checked out as we were flying home that night .one small suggestion signage for... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
