We booked this room for its central location and it was very reasonably priced. We took a cab from the train station, which cost 8 euros. We were very worried when we first saw the front of the hotel, because it is not a typical entrance. A small door takes you inside a reception area for the building, and they... More

We spent 5 days at the hotel in March. I am writing this to give a more general review. My impression is that the hotel has rooms on floors 5 through 9. floors 8 and 9 for certain. The hotel is like others in Europe, where the hotel utilizes portions of the building. Their reception area is on the 5th... More

The location is perfect to visit Madrid. Few steps away from the metro station Plaza de Espana. Surrounded by a lot of shops and restaurants, so very convenient. It is very nice hostal, not an hotel but rooms are more than OK for a budget city trip. A basic breakfast is offered for 4€ per night which is cheap. We... More

Ideal location. You can jump in to the metro and within 20mins ur at a metro station jist beside the hotel. All the attractions just around the corner. The room nice and clean but basic. Loads of tapas bars around nice cheap cafes. The breakfast only 4euro. The staff very nice. What else would u be looking for.

The hotel is located on Gran Via, one of the main streets in Madrid. Many people in on the streets at night, so it was very safe. Close to Plaza de Espana metro. It was a large room with twin beds as requested. The balcony looked out on the main drag, so we saw all the action, including a small... More

The hotel is ideally situated, on the main street of Madrid, very close to the Metro station Plaza de Espana and the station of the turistic bus.The staff is great, very helpfull. Try to book a room with balcony.

We found this hotel to be ideally situated for all trains, buses, restaurants & shops being on THE MAIN street in the city. The hotel was more than adequate & very clean, but whilst providing both tea & coffee facilities, rather strangely, NO MILK. Living in a rural area, we did find the traffic noise a problem at night (room... More

It is not only great location, but the staff there, in particular at the reception, were simply great! Helpful, caring and in every way making us feel very welcome at their hotel. Rooms, spacious, well furnished with everything you might need, and our 8th floor room had magnificient view of the Royal Palace. The only drawback is saturday night street... More

This no frills hostel/ hotel is clean, efficiently run, so very central and well priced I am reluctant to let up its secrets. Hidden at the foot of Grand Via it is next to Plaza de Espana metro. Breakfasts are simple but sustaining, rooms simple and shower room spotless. You pay 2 star price and get 3 star facilities. Highly... More

Stayed here with my parents for 4 nights. We arrived at 11:00 in the morning and even though the rooms was not available we where offered the opportunity to leave our luggage. Personnel was very kind and although they where not speaking English they used google translate in order to serve us. Room large enough for three; clean; small terrace... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
