We recently stayed here for 3 nights. Given the price of larger hotels and the fact we wanted to watch our budget this was a great little centrally located hostel. It appears that Madrid is awash with hostels and having only stayed in Madrid this once our review is purely based on this place as I cannot compare to others.... More

The room was small but clean and comfortable. There was a great balcony, and fridge. For 5 euro there was a really great buffet breakfast available. The location was very central. I'd stay here again.

I would recommend the Rincon Gran Via to anyone on a budget who wants value for money. This is spotlessly clean accommodation with small but adequate rooms. The breakfast is perhaps limited in choice but nevertheless at 4 euros is still good value. The real drawback, unless you are aware, is that the hotel is not identified from outside and... More

The hotel entrance is a bit scary, the reception advertises for clinical analysis and other different services than the usual hotel services. Must say that I was quite surprised on the hotel room. Didn´t felt very conformable since I was at the very last room and wasn´t sure if it would be save. In any case, the room was very... More

I stayed at this place for 2 nights. I must admit when I walked into the building at first, I was a bit doubtful. However, when I got to my room, I was pleased to find a comfortable bed with a very clean bathroom. It had all the necessary amenities. The staff at the little reception were very friendly. Breakfast... More

I liked everything actually. Fantastic value for money. Staff is super friendly. I'd like to mention the lady - I think her name is Ana. I phoned the hotel after booking online just to make sure everything was ok and she was very nice on the phone, helpful and accommodating. It was also Ana who checked me in upon arrival... More

This hotel was very central. It was not quite what we expected from the outset as it shares its premises with other businesses it appears, but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived in the room. The room was clean, bright and overlooked the main street in Madrid. It was rather noisy at night but that is the price you... More

The hotel is very hard to find as it occupies a section of an office building and there is a very small sign in front. Reception is on 6 th floor and hours are limited. If you are interested in concierge services, this is not for you. The room was clean and comfortable and a good value for the price.... More

Excellent location for seeing Madrid. Room was comfortable although on the small side. You get to the reception by way of a small lift. Fits 2 people and cases or 3 people very snugly. The rooms are on levels above and breakfast room is on floor below. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment. Felt a bit claustrophobic in the... More

This Hotel was a great little find and had everything we needed and more. We were in the more modern part and had a small balcony to enjoy. The bathroom was fine, could have had more shelves for all our bottles but....., the room also had a fridge for our Gin and Tonic and a Safe. Great location, close to... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
