We booked our flights not realizing that the "Beatification" was taking place during those dates )-: It was literally impossible to find private rental accommodation so we were thinking of changing them. We had even tried some of the hotels but everything was fully booked. Then we decided to email Apartamentos Odesa which are under the same management and received... More

We were going to Madrid for a long weekend and looked for a cost-effective place to stay for 3 nights and chose the hostel Odesa based on the number of positive reviews on tripadvisor. The hotel is based on the third floor of a building on one of the main roads between Chueca and Gran Via station. What a great... More

We have stayed at Hostal Odesa three times now. The neighborhood - Chueca - is a great one: lively, near Gran Via. The price is very good. Our room was quiet. But the best part of Hostal Odesa is the lovely staff. They are very, very sweet! We will stay at Hostal Odesa every time we're in Madrid!

This hostal lies in the center of the city, in the gay area and is great for gay travelers. Others will enjoy to and it's not a gay hostal. Prices are low and the rooms are nice and clean. Staff is friendly, but doesn't speak much English. Very close to metro and it takes about 35 min from the airport... More

Hostal Odesa has rather mixed ratings, so when I went there with my partner in June 2013, I was ready to be disappointed. However, we weren't disappointed at all, but instead, rather delighted. This is definitely a budget hotel, so don't expect frills, but we were pleased with the quality of the furnishings, the clean towels every day and the... More

I have been staying in Odesa apartments since November 2005, one to two times each year. During this last trip in March 2013 my cousin and his wife shared a flat with me and they loved it. Very reasonably priced, hip neighborhood with lots of shopping close by, centrally located and within walking distance to the Metro, grocery stores, la... More

I found this hotel to be very good value of money - the location in excellent in chueca, close to all the bars/clubs here. It is only a short 2 min. walk to Gran via and 5 mins walk to peurta del sol. The rooms are quite nice as well but since our room was located next to the reception... More

Our stay was OK. The Receptionist was OK and helpful. The room also was ok, nice and confortable. We only stayed one night and had a good location in a gay neighborhood. I have no complains. The internet also was OK, not very good reception but it worked.

Spent 5 nights in the Odesa apartments in Madrid. Very clean and appropriate furniture - only weakness was a lack of suitable cutlery. Good location - small bars, restaurants, shops very near and easy walking distance to centre of Madrid for museums, metro etc. Some problem with leaving key on departure as the reception desk was closed but I would... Basic old fashioned room but very clean. The service is minimum but you dont expect anything when you go to such kind of place for 45€ a nighht Location is good, near the Chueca, so if you wanna sleep well and a lot, not ideal, but party, it is awesome. Unfortunately, I was given the room just behind the reception... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
