You get what you pay for and that's about it. Ever seen the film Hostel? I thought that's what this was as we walked up the old wooden staircase surrounding the ancient lift. The rooms were small, the bathroom was tiny. If i were you i'd pay that bit extra

My first experience in hostel turned out to be nothing short of superb. Very well taken care of. To be very honest, there is nothing negative about this property. A special word of gratitude to Maria who is in charge of the property. Too good.

We stayed for two nights at this hostel. I have to admit that we were quite put off by the entrance of the hostel- it was a bit grungy looking and we had no clue how to get in. Apparently, you get on the elevator (which was an experience in itself, as it was quite vintage) and get yourself to... More

This is an excellent place to stay while you are in Madrid. The best geographic location, in the middle on Madrid. 2 min walking from the Madrid most famous street: Gran Via and Metro station. Every place is close to thia hostel. Room prices are affordable. They are very clean and comfortable. Staff is so helpful and polite. They are... More

Very clean, with very helpful staff. So close to La Puerta del Sol; we walked or took the metro to all sights. Busy, crowded, not elegant, but safe neighborhood. The only problem we had was that I tried to call internationally using their phone in the room, but it didn't work. Since that was the night before our departure from... More

This is not a "hostal"as one might expect in a capital city,it should be a starred rated small hotel.Situated 100 yards from the Grand Via surrounded by a myriad of cafes, restaurants chic and bog standard shops it is ideal for the person who enjoys walking. The rooms are small, all with balconies and private facilities. The beds are comfortable and all facilities are... For those that are not familar with Hostals in Madrid, these are small, usually family run hotels. Rooms are small but spotless. They have a 24 hour front desk to let you in the building after hours. Our room facing the side street was somewhat quiet. Most of the staff spoke English and were very helpfull with local information about restraunts... More

This is a 2 star hotel in the middle of Chueca. The rooms are small but the beds are comfy and everything works. The staff are very helpful and there is someone on the front desk through the night to let you in. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere but for a short stay on a budget this... More

I went for two night with my best friend and stayed at this hostel. The twin room was big enough for what we wanted and reasonably quiet considering it is right int he middle of Madrid. I wouldnt like to try and find this hostel ii i had never been before. We ended up getting a taxi from the airport... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
