It's got pretty much everything that we needed for a short stay. Secure, clean inexpensive, with a shower / WC. Wonderful area in Tribunal, near to Metro and Buses. The owner is friendly and helpful. A very pleasant stay in Madrid.

This is a good value hostel in a good central location in Madrid. Whilst the rooms and facilities are basic, the owner / manager is very friendly, and the rooms are clean and well looked after. There are lots of shops and restaurants near by (a popular shopping street in Madrid) and good location for walking just about any where... More

Recently stayed at Hostal Benamar for 2 nights. Stayed in a Private room with ensuite. Room was large, clean and had its own balcony. Close location to Gran Via only 5 mins away and major sights. Only negative is the very thin walls can hear just about everything. Great value for what you get!

Located right next to the tribunal metro station and at walking distance from all major city attractions like gran via, mayor plaza, malasana, Puerto del sol! The location could not have been better as it is very close to the city centre and also easily accessible post the active nightlife in Madrid ! Jose is very helpful and provides for... More

Very centrally located hostal close to metro and main attractions. Host is very friendly and helpful providing a map and pointing out main sights and recommending local restaurants etc. Basic facilities but all you could need and very clean and well maintained. I have no hesitation in recommending.

This was my third stay at Benamar, the second one with my brother. He and I love to travel and our wives often stay behind--as in this case. The GOOD: Very clean room and bathroom, nicely tiled and painted; very well located for walking or taking the subway; FANTASTIC value. The BAD: No elevator...but owner José will come down and... Stayed with two friends in June. Well-priced, clean and the owner was very friendly and catered to our needs. Down a slightly quieter street between Chueca and Malasaña, this hostel is ideally located if you like those two areas. It's near Tribunal metro which means travel to the airport is easy and it's not too far to walk to other... More

Our introduction to Hostal Benmar, about a 3 minute walk from the Tribunal metro station along Calle de San Mateo, past a dirt lot ringed by wooden benches in need of repair, past a couple of open but uninviting tapas bars, to an unmarked dark-green door with a large brass knob in its center, below a small, and difficult to... Stayed here 2 nights with my sister on a city break, a bit difficult to work out the right door at first (a sign would help at bottom of stairs). Good clean room, small but had all we needed and comfortable beds. Owner was really friendly and helpful recommended a few local restaurants which were great. Would definitely recommend this... Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
