Have just spent 5 nights at this fabulous city centre hotel. La Latina is most definitely the best district to stay in and once you have navigated the area it is close to metro and also centralised enough to walk to all main areas of interest. Plenty of fantastic restaurants and bars in immediate area and would recommend the food... More

I'm actually surprised this hotel is so highly rated. On the positive side, the location is great and the staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. I would give service at 5. The room itself however is more of a 2. We were given a room on the main floor which basically opened directly into seating for the restaurant next... More

The hotel location is excellent , in the city center , the street is full of bars and restaurants , no need to go too far in case you need a drink or a snack. Rooms are very clean and well organized , we got upgraded as soon as we got there , the wow thing is that staff are... More

This hotel is close to main attractions, bars and underground system. The rooms are nice but would encourage not to go with lowest grade room as although comfortable they are on smaller side. Staff very helpful and bar at hotel is popular but there are plenty of choices in the area.

The hotel is located on the restaurant/bar street and is within walking distance to all the attractions, but surprisingly there isn't too much noise from the street. There is, however, a lot of noise in the morning (8AM) from the cleaning staff. Due to the open layout of the hotel, you can hear everything in the hallway. It didn't bother... More

I stayed over a week here in late March. I splurged and got a room with a balcony. The bed was really comfortable, the room was decent sized for Europe and it had a small desk and free Wi-Fi. The staff spoke enough English for me to get by with no Spanish and were most helpful. It's over a tapas... More

This hotel was a great find - thank you TripAdvisor! As previous reviews have said, the hotel is in an excellent location in the heart of the city and with the metro station (La Latina) just a short stroll away. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly - on arrival Daniel provided us with a free glass of wine while checking... More

Lovely posada, great location, stylish rooms, good food and drink & service. This is a really great place to stay - right in the centre of old Madrid & close to the Plaza Mayor. The restaurants and bars nearby were suoerb

Historical quirky building with plenty of character. Well located within easy reach of Plaza Santa Ana. Bright, clean and trendy rooms with a good power shower. Very friendly and helpful staff who lent me a phone charger and brought me coffee in the morning. I had a great view over the roof tops.... very nice indeed.

We spent the weekend at Posada del Dragon. What a nice hotel? Rooms are small but well appointed (very comfortable bed). Friendly and helpful staff (all of them), brilliant location, lively bar - and surrounded by lively tapas bars. Madrid's a winner for a city break.

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
