Really bad service. Room was ok clean and spacious. However when unfortunately I got mugged and all my money was taken from my accounts and my cards stolen the staff refused to let me use their computer. I needed to cancel cards etc ASAP they even charged me to use the phone. I really expect hotels to take care of... More

We stayed 4 nights at Sonsoles. The building is beautiful inside. The rooms are small but good. A little cold in the Winter. The bathroom has plenty of hot water. Perfectly located close to shopping and great food. All in all really great for the Price.

I stayed there for one night. Room was small, bed and bathroom were okay but clean. Apparently Madrid is full of family hostels, who live in the hostel and rent rooms to travelers. To me it felt like invading to the family's privacy, which made me feel VERY uncomfortable. Also, in order to get in you have to buzz the... More

I stayed here for three nights as a solo traveller, for me it was a perfect base only 150 yards from the bustling busy street of Gran Via, and easy access to the Metro. It was hard to find as it is tucked away really amongst the shops on Calle Fuencarral. The staff were friendly and the room was ok,... More

We stayed in this hotel when we recently visited Madrid and we were very pleased with the room. The bedroom was a good size and the bathroom was also very nice. The staff did not say a lot and could not speak any English which was slightly difficult when trying to sort out the room information but apart from that... More

W e were more than happy with with our stay here at the Sonsoles. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The location is great - just a few minutes walk from Grand Via with the metro station nearby. The street does get noisy and busy at night - you have to... More

I recommend this place. The room was very clean (realy daily cleaning, changing the towels etc.), with the balcony and the bathroom which is enough large. Wi-Fi is OK at all the hostal. Fuencarral street, where the hostal is located is crowded (but without the cars) although it wasn't loud in our room. The staff was helpful but unfortunatelly they... More

Easyish to find it has a very central location. I bought a tourist travel ticket for the metro but didn't end up using it much as most places we could walk to. Right next to gran via there was plenty of shops and restaurants around and was at the centre of everything. The room was very good. We stayed in... More

This is s great little hostal right in the centre of Madrid. The Ritz it is not, but clean, comfortable and friendly. All the main tourist attractions on your doorstep with bars and restaurants close by. Lots of gay nightlife in the area too. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a few nights away in this... More

A fantastic place to stay in central Madrid. The rooms are a reasonable size with small yet perfectly adequate bathrooms. Considering Gran Via is a few metres away and there are lots of shops, bars and Chueca outside the door, the rooms were incredibly quiet. For the price, you don't really get any better than this and the owner and... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
