We recently had a two-night stay at the Gran Melia Fenix having arranged accommodations through a deal on TripAdvisor. As we only had a short time in Madrid, we wanted a well-located, upscale hotel. Further, as we were traveling with our two sons (ages 19 and 22) and needed two rooms, we didn't want to spend a king's ransom. In... more

We stayed in the Gran Melia Fenix for three nights in early June and would wholeheartedly recommend it. We found a great deal on Hotel.Com about a week before our stay. This was a fraction of the rack rate but we were still given a very nice room on the outside of the building, on the third floor The windows... more

My family and I recently stayed at this hotel in madrid for three days. We booked it through expedia for a phenomenal deal!!! We arrived very early on a flight from London to madrid. We took the metro from the airport, only had to transfer once and I think it took a total of just over 1/2 hour. Very easy!... more

Clean, stylish, classic, quiet, one block from metro. Nice staff, Two doors between bed and hallway. Never heard noise in hallway. Was surprised with charge for internet (ethernet). You get 12 free hours wireless. Thought this was below standard in Madrid. Otherwise, great hotel. Going back to Madrid, planning on staying there again, despite internet access. more

This was a birthday treat and as such we decided to go for one of the premium room packages. The room was beautiful, the outdoor jacuzzi great for relaxing in and the royal service second to none. We didn't hear any noise from the other rooms during our stay. The staff were excellent, very helpful and even wished me a... more

I have never been to Spain before, and in fact apart from trips to London, which were more for business than pleasure, have never really 'done' a city break. This was a spontaneous booking to break up the spring, and as a lucky, extra holiday, budget was an issue - especially with the sad demise of Stirling against the Euro.... more

As we had stayed there in a previous trip to Madrid and were very pleased, we decided to stay there again. The Gran Melia Fenix is a chic yet understated hotel with beautifully decorated rooms, polite and helpful registration desk and concierges. Our room was a standard one, so it was small but nevertheless comfy with lots of space to... more

Overall, excellent choice in Madrid. Not that many contenders in the Centro/Salamanca area (the Ritz and Westin Palace come to mind... latter full of tour groups but nice). Liked the fact it's a Spanish chain... fewer Americans as a result. Rooms: More old school elegance than state of the art... some of the furniture looks better in the photos. Our... more

This hotel has some rooms that are bigger than others, if you request the Deluxe accommodations, King size bed , you will be very comfortable. The location is excellent ,near the high end Serrano shops and restaurants. Near museums and steps to the Paseo La Castellana. Do not order a Coca- Cola at the lobby bar, it will set you... more

Stayed here for 2 nights and was very pleased. Had a very quiet room and great bed for sleeping and getting over jet lag. Room was small but furnished very elegantly with great bathroom with heated towel bars.. Staff was very helpful with directions and infromation. Came in early from international flight and they had my room ready and then... more
