Well for being first time in Madrid it is a very good hotel with very nice people. Always helpful and polite. It's literally few steps from the Metro station with a Starbucks across the street but only thing I could not see is a grocery which I am sure must be somewhere but I could not find it. The hotel... friendly and multilingual staff, good food and an nespresso machine ready to serve you during the buffet breakfast. Its a nice central hotel in the middle of madrid. 20 minutes away from the outlet. Its not in the heart of the shopping and may require travelling

This hotel provided a great venue for our European meeting with very nice meeting rooms, bedrooms and dining. It's central location also made it easy to pop out of the hotel to see the city and enjoy the huge variety of restaurant and bars on offer.

I have to agree with other reviewers who describe the hotel as dated, but this shouldn't be taken to mean decrepit. Everything is neat, clean and in more or less perfect working order, but the patterned carpets, coloured marbles and gilt fixtures and fittings certainly owe something style-wise to a bygone decade. On the plus side, I found the staff... More

I stayed 1 night for business, and wasn't impressed. Service at reception is fine and the wifi works well. That's about it. Decoration is very antiquated - old wood, wall-fixed hairdryers, a mini bar that doesn't quite fit in its cupboard, a corby trouser press that needs to be unplugged in order to use the only plug socket... Breakfast was... More

the hotel team are really helpful and friendly, but advertising a pool and then trying to charge 20 euro a day is misleading. The room furnishings are old, sliding wardrobe doors that wake the neighbours , floors that creak and a toilet roll holder carefully positioned to do maximum elbow damage on every visit do not add up to a... Obviously a grand hotel at one time but is bow looking tired and dated. Rooms are spacious but again dated. Mine was very cold despite putting heating on max. No tea making facilities but free wifi. Breakfast is ok, lots of choice but its poor quality. Eggs swimming in fat, undercooked and cold. It was a good location to my... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and whilst the rate was good, the hotel was not of 5 star standard. Although it´s abvious that the hotel does need some renovation in the rooms, the ratio between quality and price is very good. The staff would be what I would rate higher. Good room service as well. Spa facilities are good as well. Dinning at the main entrance restaurant would not be my recommnedation, stay at the caffeteria or if you... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
