Ideal position on Calle Arenal ( pedestrianised ) ten minutes from Opera metro or 20 minutes walk from Plaza de la Cibeles (on yellow airbus). The Palace, Theatre are 5 minutes away and most attractions within 30 minutes. Plenty of good restaurants nearby but would recommend La Bola and La Vardo both near the Opera/Theatre. Back to the Hotel we... More

Chose this hotel based on trip advisor comments and we were not disappointed. The central location meant we could walk to most main central tourist attractions and we were within 5 mins walking distance from underground station Vodaphone Sol where almost all the metro lines cross. The first day we had breakfast in the hotel to try it. It cost... More

Me and my friends have been in this hotel three weekends ago. The hotel is in the middle of the pedestrian street between the two main squares of the downtown. The hotel is under modernization but most of the rooms are already renewed. The rooms are clean and nice even if not that big. They are very nice and helpful.... More

We were so glad that we booked this hotel to stay in Madrid. The location was perfect because it is located near so many attractions and restaurants so we weren't having to travel far to go to places that we wanted to get too. Very close to Opera and Sol metro stations which both have good connections. The room decor... More

The Hotel is being refurbished to a very high standard. Our room was at the rear so no view but very quiet, spacious with very comfortable beds and the bathroom was one of the best we have come across . Breakfast varied and well presented. Staff very helpful. We stayed for four nights and could not have wished for more.... More

Good value, great location. Rooms are nice. Be prepared for plenty of crowd noise day and night as the hotel faces a busy pedestrian area. If driving, its best to just get as close as possible and grab a spot in any public parking lot then walk to hotel. Navigation is difficult.

Location, cleanliness and service were excellent. Staff was very helpful. Sleep quality was good, but our door room close to the elevator let us hear all its use. Price was somehow overrrated (over 166 eur/night). The hotel web offers standard rooms 23 m2 for 1-2 people, superior rooms 26 m2 for 2-3 people and suites 35 m2 for up to... More

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Having used the metro to get to the hotel from the airport we only had to use it once more to travel to The Bernebau stadium. The royal palace, opera house, The Prado are all within walking distance of the hotel and for that reason alone we would recommend it to... More

I was a little disappointed at reception, which is unassuming and outdated. But then I was pleasantly surprised by the room: spacious and clean. It can be a little noisy (not only from the very busy street, but also the renovations that the hotel is undergoing). Staff was very helpful and cordial. All in all, an excellent deal.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
