Spent 7 nights in HD. Very helpful staff. Spotless rooms. A bit noisy during the day, but quiet at night. Secure and convenient to everything in the Las Letras area. Might not appeal to travelers who require a lot of amenities, but it was a great value for us.

The hotel is in Barrio de las Letras close to Plaza Santa Ana, whoch is a great location not far from the Prado and Thyssen museums. Hotel is on 2nd floor with a lift. It is a basic hotel, with the essential amenities at a budget price. The room was clean, bed comfortable and staff were helpful. Street side rooms... More

nice budget accommodation. Clean, near Prado, but very small. Not the best choice for us on our first somewhat disoriented first night in Madrid after flying all day and night. I would have chosen someplace a little more spacious. Good price, good value, but very basic.

We just spent 5 nights at HD and it was perfect for us. The small rooms are spotless, bathrooms compact, but with all you need. Beds are very comfortable, room service every day, friendly staff that doesn't speak English but seem to understand. It's in a great location with good food nearby (if you like seafood, try El Barril de... More

This place has a good location. It's very clean and neat. Feels like a small hotel, because they fix the beds and change the towels daily. But if you are a loud person, this isn't your place to stay!! There is a nosy guy "older" that will make you feel unpleasant and will make you feel bad ...!

Very fortunate to book this the same day (a Friday), and actually get one of the rooms featured on Trip Advisor. It was perfect for my boyfriend and I, allowing us to see all of the great sights in central Madrid. There was a VIPS (had both a restaurant and takeaway food) and a Starbucks next door. It was nice... More

Our room was clean and comfortable with good free WiFi coverage. The location of the hostel is perfect for exploring the old town and the museums. There are restaurants within the block and many more a few blocks from the hostel. It didn't really feel like your regular hostel, it's much better, more like a B&B without the breakfast. It... Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
