There are lots of busy areas this is the main street Gran Via but you can stay Sol area or others this was great if you like a lot of shops and bustling area. It was clean and slightly Belle époque they had mixed the new rooms with quirky old stuff I really liked it. Big comfy beds and a... More

Hotel Villa de la Reina is extremely well-located on the main Gran Via boulevard, 10 mins walk to famed museums like Reina Sofia, Thyssen-Bourneszma and Prado. We stayed three nights, enjoyed some great local restaurants (Lhadry, Ramses) and enjoyed walking the bustling back streets of Cuenca. Rooms are fully renovated and quite adequate, though not spacious, service is excellent and... More

We stayed here because we wanted somewhere within easy walking distance of Madrid's main attractions and because we like a hotel that isn't too big and inpersonal and which feels like it could be anywhere. We loved the very Spanish feel about the place. It truly feels like your in the Spanish capital; a perfect mix of tradition and modern... More

Stayed three nights in this beautiful hotel which is located on the Gran Vía just a few steps away from all main attractions (Prado Museum, Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor etc.) The room (I think it was 504) was recently refurbished and big with a really comfy bed. I really liked the small balcony overlooking the Gran Vía. The bathroom is... More

I stayed at this hotel during the 2010 World Cup. On our first day in Madrid, we watched Spain win the World Cup at a large park down the street from the hotel. The next day, the players drove right past our hotel for a victory lap through the city. Because our room faced the street, we had a front... More

I have visited this hotel twice over the past month. The location is great as you are close to the main city attraction and all the restaurant you can think of. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you are leaving the hotel early and before breakfast time they offer you coffee and that is simply great to start... More

Stayed for a few days, the hotel is central and within walking distance to everything. Train Station / Prado about a 10/15 min walk to the east. Puerta Del Sol is a 5 min walk south, Plaza Mayor another 5, Palace another 5 from that. Easy to get to from the airport too, just take the aeroport bus (5 euros)... More

A darling little hotel in the thick of Madrid shopping. They gave us sparkling wine and almonds when we checked in, and free bottled water in our rooms! The shower is great, the wifi is absolutely the fastest and best I've ever had in a hotel, and the towels are fluffy. All in all, I'm quite happy with my hotel... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
