Stayed here in September as a gift to my boyfriend for his 30th birthday! Hotel looks good from the front, flags flying. Entrance is lovely, with reception and a bar area with displays of cakes looking gorgeous. We were greeted by Eduardo who was very friendly and gave us some great reviews of restaurants to visit! We went up to... More

The hotel was the tip of the day on the Lufthansa website when we booked our trip to Madrid, and after visiting the hotel's website, we booked flight and 3 nights with breakfast. The express bus (5.-€) brought us from the airport to the Plaza de Cibeles from where it is a short and easy walk to the hotel. Close... More

Easy to find, next to the metro at Grand Via. Nice lobby, easy check-in. Spacious room overlooking a back street, so quiet, except for Saturday night which is totally riotous. Simple but OK breakfast. Near to all the central attractions of Madrid. Very easy to walk to all the museums and galleries and close-by metro if you don't want to... More

Excellent location with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The lobby is decorated with books and large arm chairs for reading and relaxing. The hotel was recently remodeled, so there is an lovely mix of old and new style. I loved the old wood and glass elevator that has double doors opening inward and an ornate metal cage. The Gran Via... More

Just got back after a 3 night stay - great location on the Gran Via - we had a room facing the road with a lovely little balcony on the 5th floor - no noise as the room is well insulated. Try to book a room with a view, it;s worth it. Bed was comfortable, but the room very warm... More

Dear all, I ve been in this hotel a few times for business and also holidays and it was already very confortable , good food and really nice and welcome staff, but my surprise this time has been supreme. What an amazing change of style! It s all bright new! Much more confortable, wide spaces, much lighter, modern colonial style,... More

It might be better to look for a nice, well known hotel even if it is not so much in the city center. That way you will avoid inconveniences like getting an 7m2 room at the rate of a double-room, then moving to a real double room without windows and terribly smelling due to the renovation works going around, missing... We spent 2 nights for a week-end, the hotel was in renovation and nobody informed us before our arrival or applied us a discount. Despite this, we had a lovely week-end, the room was clean and very nice, the staff was nice, the breakfast was complete and very good (only 15€ for 2 personnes or 10€ for one). The better... More

The rating should disregard the construction. Taking this into consideration it would max be a 2. Looking at the progress I would think that it is not finished until March. Ask before booking as most facilities are not working. The hotel is very well situated in the middle of Gran Via. The rooms are not big but of good quality.... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
