Location: Good location on main street of shopping/business. A block away from the metro station underground in both direction It is possible to walk to the Del Sol and Opera areas no problem. Hotel: Older and apartment setting. There are more stairs/steps in this building that makes hauling heavy large luggage a nuisance. Wifi must be bought, and it is... More

We stayed here for several night. The sound insulation is good, it has double glass window, we hardly hear the voice from outside (6 lanes road). The small pantry is fit for do some easy cooking. The bathroom is big. The digital button panel of the safe box in the room has a hole on it, so we did not... More

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to see that your stay in Espahotel Gran Vía was positive. Gran Vía is one of the busiest streets in Madrid, however, the whole hotel is completely soundproof, therefore our clients sometimes don’t even notice they are in Gran Via street once in the building. With respect to the staircase, we understand... More

Excelent location on Gran Vía . Old building but everything works reasonably. We were given a large room/attic ( wife, 18 years old son and me). The aircon did not work very strongly but enough for May temperatures.Obviously the attic had only one window at the roof. Tiny kitchen , fridge, etc, but enough for simple meals. Various small supermarkets... More

The Espahotel is on the busiest street in Madrid. An almost non-noticeable door leads to the first floor where the concierge sits. The hotel has service apartments only. The rooms are small but comfortable and the kitchen area is tiny, but sufficient enough to rustle up a simple meal. It's neat and clean and most of all quiet and peaceful.... More

Thank you very much for your comments. We are happy to see that your stay in Espahotel Gran Via was pleasant. The best thing of this Hotel is mainly the location. It's located right in the heart of Madrid (Gran Vía). Maybe for some people this hotel may seem a bit old. It is not a glamorous Hotel but it is still a fairly decent place. Rooms are big enough. We were previously alerted and the WiFi connection is not free... More

Thank you very much for your comments. It is true that Espahotel Gran Via is located in the centre of Madrid, in one of the most touristic streets of Madrid. We are constantly readapting the hotel by making those changes that have to be made, such as the televisions, that were recently changed, and we will be working to continue... More

The fact that the hotel does not have its parking booking we knew it, but main problem thats impossible to stop or to drop for 2 minutes car, case near the entrance to the hotel a few different stops of public transport block out everything! Reception not on group floor, but you have to go up one floor via a... More

It is located near the Plaza Espana metro station and the Gran via. The rooms are big and clean. The staff is speaking english and they are friendly. The breakfast is nothing special but cost 8€, go in Gran via for breakfast for the half price. I really recommend this Hotel.

Pros: Bed- good firm mattresses, comfy Room- small but clean, had asked a room for 3 so we ended up with 3 single beds. Kitchen equipment was hidden behind what initially seemed to be closet doors. Kitchen is fully functional. Not glamourous at all if that's what you are looking for. Bathroom - clean. fully equipped. we had no problems... More

We've just come back from 3 nights at this hotel, the rooms were very clean, good beds, and a very central location, but despite telling the staff every day, we unfortunately couldn't get any hot water for showers / baths, it just kept alternating between lukewarm and warm. So this is a great hotel if you're a fan of cold... More

Nice central location within easy walking distance to the Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor and Sabatini Gardens. A variety of eating places are in close proximity as are small delicatessens/supermarkets. We stayed in a studio apartment and the kitchen, though small, was more than adequate for the two of us. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
