Luckily I could not get a date from booking.com when I tried to reserve a room. I can confirm the building is still boarded up with directions to go to a hotel miles away, the Chamartin. Talking to the staff across the road it seems like it happened early November and there is no sign of it reopening anytime soon.... More

I booked this hotel through Booking.com 5 months ago. We arrived to find the place closed, the entry and windows plastered over, and a small sign with the phone number of the Hotel Chamartin, which is miles outside the city center. Luckily I had my Michelin and was able to find another place to stay. I called Booking.com after returning... More

We've just came back from 1 week trip in Madrid and the general impression regarding the hotel is : very well placed(5 min. to metro/bus/ Puerta del Sol, surrounded by restaurants, bars, clubs), the room(312) was large and cleaned every day. The personnel is polite and friendly(thanks Manu !). Good prices if you book in advance. We didn't try breakfast... More

Great location. 4 minutes or less from Puerta del Sol to your left and about 6 from Paseo del Prado. If you're looking for a place to, basically, rest after a day walking around, it's great for it's price. Breakfast could be better, but expectable for a 3 star hotel. Nice reception people!

Best place....nice position, can visit all Madrid, next to bus, touristic bus, 3 metro, shopping area, night life, restaurants, etc.... Huge handicap is the air conditioning, I do hate it, but even on 19 degrees it was damn hot. Rly clean, huge bathroom, service polite. No view, it was on the wall...but was not on my aspect rate. Will return... More

I have no idea why so many people gave this hotel a good review. The only positive thing about this place is the location, but i suggest trying to find another hotel in the same area. Here is what makes it bad: Old everything--toilet, sink, bathtub. The sink has 2 separate faucets with one hot one for cold water. the... More

Stayed here for one night, the staff were really good and helpful. It's centrally located which is an extra added bonus. The room was really spacious and the beds were comfortable also a nice shower. I would recommend this place as it is surly value for money. I would say its a good place to stay.

Overall the hotel was very clean. Good morning breakfast. Good central location. Beds wre very firm and the shower doors did not work correctly. As with many of the European hotels the halls are stone so the noise from people and rolling suitcases is very loud. Helpful staff

We stayed here for just one night, so the convenient location was definitely a plus. We arrived early and there was no problem being able to store our luggage with the hotel staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to take a short walk and be at The Prado within a few minutes. Walking the other... More

Great little economical hotel located minutes from Plaza Santa Ana on a quiet side street full of many cafes and restaurants. All rooms are single beds (yes, a double room is two single beds). Another bonus - it has a bathtub - unlike so many that have showers you couldn´t turn in. Our room had a small (standing room only)... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
