The Preciados is in a great location. The hotel is a lovely old building but has been updated to reflect what the modern traveller needs. Staff are very helpful & friendly. The restaurant is very good and they made my husbands 70th birthday special. The room had everything you need and the free mini bar was a bonus. If you... More

We stayed at the Preciados for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is ideal, close to the metro stations and walking distance to many fun spots. The staff was very helpful and we would definitely stay there again.

This was our third stay at the Preciados. We have enjoyed it each time we came. The staff are professional. The breakfast was substantial and very good quality. We like the location and its nearness to two metro lines.

Easy to find restaurants and metro. Great area that feels safe at night. Tours and some sites were within reasonable walking distance. Lots of small restaurants off the beaten path if you wander down side streets. Street was lit up later and felt safe to walk around without worries

Good location in the old city. Excellent clean and convenient room and service. Good buffet breakfast. Reasonable price. Only a dinner at the hotel restaurant was disappointing. Very nice staff. We recommend the hotel overall.

Hotel Preciados is in a good spot; walking distance from most of the major sights in Madrid like the Palace Real, the Opera, the famous Mercado Market, San Gines Chocolatier, Gran Via and so much more. If one needs to use the Metro, there is one available at the nearest square. The hotel is surrounded with various bistros, cafes and... More

Stayed here last September for 5 nights. I can only think of positives in regards to this hotel and no cons ( perhaps it would have been nicer to have stayed even longer ). From the moment my brother his wife and myself entered to when we left we were treated oh so well by every member of the staff.... More

Good value for your money. The location is excellent just a block from Gran Via, the service is good and the price is fair. Don't expect a lot of luxury here as this is a 4 stars hotel, but sometimes location is everything. Maybe the staff is not as well trained in customer service as in other more expensive hotels,... Room was clean and modern. Staff was friendly and spoke English well. Location on the Gran Via is perfect. Would definitely return. There is some street noise so earplugs were helpful. There are quite a few restaurants within easy walking distance.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
