Our stay in the HRC last week for 6 nights was excellent. Hotel is clean with comfortable beds and towels changed daily.. Whilst room wasn't big it was still comfortable for myself and my two daughters. Air Con and wifi good also. The staff were friendly and David & Juan Carlos on reception are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was... More

My wife and me went to Madrid last June for vacation time. Our hotel was HRC during 5 night. Mr Jose Carlos was an special host for us,very friienly and helpfully. The hotel services was good, the younger workers in the cafetera were very nice too. The room was small but clean. The hotel is close to the metro station... More

Located in a quite street a little on the edge of the La Latina area of Madrid, but only a short walk to La Latina Metro (5-10 minutes) and in reasonable walking distance (15 minutes) of both the Real Palace and the Plaza Mayor. The "big 3" art galleries (Prado, Arte Renie Sofia & Thyssen-Bornemisza) are also within reasonable walking... More

Upon our early arrival, Jose Carlos worked to get us a room with a balcony, which had a superb night view of a beautiful church and the city in the background. He truly wanted to share his Madrid with us. He gave us hints about less-well-known places to visit and restaurant recommendations. When we left, he offered to translate recipes... More

On our visit to Madrid we were staying in HRC,after seeing the comments on this page. The hotel met expectations and we thought we had been warned; but the main downside for us was the air conditioning, because in middle of the night when we slept the air turned off and we had unseasonably warm. In the morning we contacted... More

We spent 3 nights at the HRC. We booked two rooms with our teenagers in one and the other for ourselves. We loved the location, the street was quiet and the location was walking distance to lots of great restaurants and the metro. Our rooms were simple and clean and our kids loved that the free wi-fi had great signal.... More

The location of HRC was great. It was easy walking to many restaurants, bars and shopping. The staff were polite and courteous. The only problem I had with the room is we paid 20 extra euro each night for a room with a balcony and, twin bed and a double bed. To get to the balcony we had to step... More

The hotel is located in a neighborhood that is walking to many sites. The morning desk clerk, Jose Carlos, was exceptionally helpful and nice. The room was basic and actually roomy for Europe compared to American hotel rooms. We only had a street view since we were on the 1st floor. There is a small cafe attached to the hotel... More

I found HRC to be a good option for a budget hotel in Madrid. Good location in the Barrio La Latina, five minutes walk from many restaurants and bars. Rooms are quite spacious. I liked the breakfast - a lot of options and the price was moderate. Overall recommended for someone looking for a good clean hotel in a good... More

Never in my countless trips to Europe have I been met with an antagonistic hotel team. I mean, these people are not only rude but also mean! I have to be here 2 more day and I'm miserable. The staff is obtuse, unfriendly, and is unwilling to be unhelpful in the slightest. The rooms are hot, uncomfortable, with bad views.... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
