Close to museums and park. Actually walking to palace, cathedral is close as well. Efficient quarters and communal breakfast area work well. Lapepa hosts are knowledgeable about off grid places. Quiet, even though in the heart.

We had a wonderful time staying here. Our room was perfect and the staff really made it especially great. They gave us such great advice on places to go and where to eat. The location was perfect as well. Easy walk to absolutely everything. We would love to stay here again.

We loved the amazing convenience of being in the exact center of Madrid. The hotel is directly across the street from the Prado, one block north of the Reina Sofia, and adjacent to the Theyssen, so it's the perfect place for the art lover to stay. Virtually everything we wanted to see in Madrid was within a 20-minute walk. Dozens... More

Same as previous reviews, excellent locations. I used to walk to the Sol Station if I needed to take the metro, just a straight road from the B&B. Located just next to the Thyssen Museum, you could walk to the other two museums as well. I walked from the Atocha Station when I arrived Madrid, when I left, I took... More

Lapepa provides a clean modern room just big enough for sleeping in a great location. The shower is very small, not suitable for a big person. The staff are the biggest asset, very pleasant and providing lots of info. The breakfast is of poor quality, cheap bread and pastries in cellophane, tasteless cheese, ham, and yogurt, oranges OK, apples stale.... More

This place is in an excellent location within a 5 minute walk from the Prado and lots of bars and restaurants around. You get very high value for your money. Paula in reception made our stay even more enjoyable with her cheerfulness and tips on places to see and eat. Highly recommended!

We found this bed and breakfast on Trip Advisor and immediately made arrangements to stay for two weeks. It is near three major museums, including the Prado, as well as the train station, and high end shopping. The Westin and Ritz hotels are across the street. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to answer... More

Lovely hostal with nice staff in a good location. Very near to some good tapas bars, musea and Sol. Perfect location for visiting Madrid. A simple breakfast was included which was nice as most hostals in Madrid don't always offer this service.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Madrid. We arrived too early to check in but the staff kept our luggage so we could explore the city. Paula checked us in when we returned and was very helpful, showing us attractions and restaurants on a city map. The room and in suite bathroom were very small,... More

This modern, absolutely clean little B&B is in a perfect location. Around the corner from the Thyssen-Bornemisza, short walk to the Prado and a reasonable stroll to the Reina Sofia. Lots of cafés & restaurants around and the owners and staff are particularly friendly and helpful. One caveat. It's on the 7th floor and the elevator is sometimes finicky. Don't... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
