It was our first time to Madrid and were lucky to find this fantastic hotel, in a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol. Price was great for a 4 star hotel, and this really is a four star hotel. The staff were excellent, the lounge and bar area very comfortable and welcoming (Special mention... More

Visited Hotel Liabeny in the last week of January with a group of friends to see Madrid and take in a football game. The hotel is in a very good location, just a 3 minute walk from Sol metro/train station on the busy Puerta del Sol. The whole area is full of bars/restaurants and is within walking distance of the... We were four girls at a winter break. Stayed at the Liabeny hotel, enjoyed its location at the city center, the staff's assistance and the good breakfast. Most of Madrid's attractions are within a walking distance from the hotel, so no need to use public transportation. The area felt safe day and night.

Great location off the Via Gran. Many places to eat and shop just around the corner. The staff was very nice and helpful. Very well run hotel. Breakfast was a treat. The room was huge which I did not anticipate. We had a sitting room and sleeping quarters. This made for a nice end to our trip.

This is indeed a super hotel. It fully deserves its four stars. Every member of staff encountered has been delightful. It is really noticeable when hotel staff are not just perfunctorily polite but quite clearly want you to enjoy your stay. The room I had was small but suited its purpose perfectly. It was cleaned promptly and efficiently each day... More

Me and my wife had two short stays at this hotel as we were arriving and leaving Europe by Barajas Airport but Madrid wasn´t our first option for an Europe trip. At total we´ve spent two days at this hotel. The location is the best you can get in Madrid, right at the middle of the center of the city,... More

A really central well-managed hotel with excellent rooms. The bar is particularly nice and effectively run by a very nice lady. We had no problems with the wi-fi. (Note that we did not use the restaurant so can not comment on this.)

Very good stay in the center of Madrid, comfortable hotel, affordable price for a four star. The bedroom was very tidy and confortable size wise with a large double bed. No iron available though when we called the reception.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
