This is a good reliable hotel very conveniently located in central Madrid between Gran Via and Puerta Del Sol. My wife and I stayed for four nights and we were in easy walking distance of the Prado, Puerta Atocha railway station, and the Royal Palace. There are lots of decent restaurants nearby. The hotel's air conditioning was excellent, very quiet... More

We have stayed at the Liabeny three times and are looking forward to coming back again. Everything is perfect, starting from the location a stone's throw from Gan Via and Puerta del Sol. The rooms are tastefully furnished and very comfortable, breakfast is varied and plentiful with delicious chocolate con churros. Our deepest appreciation to the efficient and friendly hotel... More

The hotel is perfectly located, just 3 min walking from Puerta del Sol. Although the hotel is old, is well maintained. The rooms were big and very cosy. The hotel staff was very helpful and attentive. Definitely we will return, we had a very good stay! High recommended hotel if you want to visit madrid, very close from city center,... More

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Fantastic location to see all of the sites in Madrid. The rooms could do with being a bit larger for a 4* hotel. Also didn't have an iron/board available for use. Buffet breakfast was great with everything needed.

This hotel is in perfect location. Right off the Puerta Del Sol. You can't ask for a better location in my view. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The style was a little outdated by was still very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. As mentioned, the highlight of this hotel was its location. Being right off the Puerta... More

We ha 5 night in beautiful city of madrid. We choose the hotel by its location, near all the action. Near the shopping street, near the bar and night scene and near the beautiful blvd. The breakfast buffet is very rich and with fresh ingredients.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is perfectly situated to walk to most places or take the metro from puerta del sol just a block away. Have stayed here twice and will definitely stay again.

Great location in the centre of Madrid! We had a large double room on the 5th floor - traffic noise was not an issue. The room was serviced to a high standard every day - a nice touch is having the bed sheets turned down in the evening. As other reviewers have noted this is at least a 4-star hotel... More

The hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance to all the major sites. Our room was on the ground floor - spacious, clean and comfortable. Street noise was never an issue for us. WiFi connection was very good. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. We enjoyed our conversation with the concierge, Victor, who reviewed the local map with us... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
