Having stayed at many hotels in the Gran Via/Puerta del Sol area, this was our first visit to the Liabeny and we were very impressed. The hotel has taxi access but is basically situated between two pedestrianised areas close to both the Gran Via and Sol. Quiet location in a very busy area. The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly,... More

Picked here to stay for location close to friend's apartment, price, and amenities. What a gem! Secured two rooms, for me/husb, and two adult children. Paid extra for early check in on 1 room, as our flight arrived 8:30am. Flight was actually early, and when arrived, one room was ready. Without question they immediately upgraded us to a suite, with... More

Stayed here with my boyfriend and family for a week. Really great hotel right by the city center and the staff was so friendly and helpful! - Inexpensive breakfast spots close by so no need to pay for the hotel one - Make sure you get a room that faces away from the "sol" as it can get really loud... My wife and I stayed for five nights, we found the Liabeny to be a very clean and comfortable hotel. The room was well appointed and of a good size given that this is a city centre hotel. Bed was comfortable and linen was changed daily. Bathroom was well maintained and also of good size. Our room overlooked the street... More

This was the first time for any of my group of eight friends to visit Madrid and what a great stay we had in the Liabeny Hotel. After plenty of research through the normal channels of pricing up hotels (Booking.com, Travel Republic, etc., etc.) we had a better deal by booking direct with the hotel itself. The hotel is minutes... More

The Liabeny is located within 5 mins of Puerto Del Sol metro, Gran Via and 6 mins Plaza Mayor. It could not be better positioned for central Madrid. The room was big and comfortable and all that you could want for a short break. Staff were generally pleasant and helpful with one or two miserable guys in the restaurant (it... More

We visited Madrid For four nights to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. It came recommended and we were not disappointed. The staff are marvellous especially Pedro the concierge. The hotel is spotless. The room was on forth floor overlooking a small Plaza. It had a large king size bed, flat screen TV, Free Wifi, which was strong. Free security safe. Excellent... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
