Large hotel in central location. Easy access to Puerta del Sol. Room large by European standards. Bed comfortable. Bathtub narrowed by racks making it a little tight. Air conditioning controlled centrally and not available—requiring window to be open. Second floor room gets a lot of night time street noise from traffic and bar/restaurant across a narrow street until 5am. Hot... More

Went to Madrid with my 84 year old father to visit my daughter who is studying at University in Madrid. Hotel room is of good size and most pleased with the service given. Room was on 5th floor overlooking some building works across, however we did not get any outside noise. Wish they could have provided kettle in the room.... More

This is a great hotel in a great location near Puerta del Sol. The rooms are very large, very nice large bathroom with a great shower and tub. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone. The next time we go to Madrid, we will stay here. Wifi was free in the room... More

The location is perfect -- steps from the Puerta del Sol. The staff is beyond eager to please (and, thankfully, not obsequious or service). The price is very reasonable and the rooms are lovely with comfortable beds. It's a bit noisy if you leave the windows open, but with the windows closed the rooms are totally soundproof. We stayed here... More

My mother was from Madrid and I haven't been in 25 years. My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at the Liabeny and couldn't have been happier with the location, the service and the helpful staff. We had an internal room, which we requested as I feared being so close to the Puerta del Sol and Gran Via... More

Very central with well equiped rooms , the bed has the right height (50 cm ) and the bathroom has everything you need. Easy access to buses to visit all the attractions as Madrid is not flat . Also you can use the eurotaxi vehicles equipped with ramps. Very helpful staff and the restaurant is very good solution for the... More

We stayed 3 nights in a triple room. The rooms were very large, atypical for the area. The breakfast is a definite must, included many delicious Spanish meats plus all the usual fixings. The staff is very nice and ready to help. Also has a small gym.

Delighted with the hotel. Was perfectly located close to Puerto del sol. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. The room was spacious and clean and the mini bar charges were surprisingly reasonable. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel on our first trip to Spain. We were there during Semana Santa and unfortunately, the hotel did not let us know of the procession that would take place the first night we arrived. We were horribly tired from our flight and ended up going to bed near 11. The procession began at midnight... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
