Great place...Situated right smack in the middle of everything.. The hotel is clean, neat, and really gets the job done....The staff was friendly. They were a great help in figuring out how to get from place to place in Madrid. I'll stay here again.

We stayed at the Hotel Liabeny on a recent trip to Madrid. Beautiful hotel within walking distance to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Many restaurants within walking distance. Great bar in the hotel. Big, clean room. Attentive and friendly staff. Charming. Great value-the best on our trip. We stayed in another area of Madrid later in our stay. Not... More

This is a standard business hotel in a great location. 300m to the nearest metro. Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Service was standard, you don't get smiles or warm greetings, but they get things done. Overall, it's a good deal.

A wonderful Hotel close to a lot of action in Madrid. I didn't use the Restaurant at all but there are many good eateries nearby. A shoppers paradise around the corner, several metro stations within easy walk including Gran Via. Very comfortable room and the evening room preparation was special (curtains drawn, bed turned down). Wifi and aircon were both... More

We had 3 rooms here for 2 nights. The only negative is that the bed was hard as a rock. They do allow smoking in some rooms so choose wisely. The location is a block off the Gran Via, near the major plazas, and really can't be beat. The hotel is a little older but is very clean, the rooms... More

The place is 5 minutes from Puerta del sol, a central metro station and gathering area. There are many restaurants and Gran Via street within a few minutes walk. From the 4th floor we had no trouble with street noise.

The Liabeny Hotel is well located for shopping, walking and exploring. The hotel is well maintained and quite luxurious with a cafe, restaurant and breakfast room. The hotel is in the middle of a shopping and restaruant district so it can be quite noisy at night. That being said, it is close to many places to eat and drink so... More

We loved being near Puerto Del Sol and within walking distance to Madrid's major attractions-Palace, Prado, Plaza Mayer, etc. The room was basic, comfortable, and clean. We booked in advance, and it was a great value, including a very nice breakfast. It was a fun, vibrant area. We felt safe walking, including in the evening. Staff members were helpful and... More

My husband and I stayed here on the last leg of our trip to Spain. The hotel is located right outside Plaza Puerta Del Sol which is nice because we were able to navigate from the airport to the hotel using the trains. The hotel is very nice, the check in was a breeze as well. Our room was really... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
