I really enjoyed my brief stay of one night at this hotel this past weekend. It is so cute and in a convenient location off of the Puerto del Sol. It is in walking distance to the Prado, Opera house, Royal Palace, etc. It is also close to two metro stops, Opera and Puerto del Sol. The restaurant is decent... More

If you're looking to visit the beautiful city of Madrid, then I can thoroughly recommend this wonderful hotel. Prices weren't that bad and we were well looked after by the restaurant / bar staff. The hotel is centrally located near many of the city's tourist attractions including Puerta del Sol, and 3 metro stations.

I was fairly impressed with everything at this hotel. Staff was very helpful and spoke good English. The room was quite large and very comfortable. WiFi speed was great. My only complaint would be that one of my towels was dirty and the others had an odd smell. I think it was just from the cleaning products but it was... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is centrally located, close to the opera house and Palacio Real. The location is also close to restaurants, other attractions and shopping. It was a great starting point for walking tours. Although we didn't use the subway, the Callao station is a short walk from the hotel. The staff is polite and... More

Good location within walking distance to all things interesting! The fourth floor room was comfortable but small. Bathroom good. But no iron or ironing board!! We had to send out our pressing and it wasn't cheap, and there is no service on weekends or holidays! Also no pool, which is a problem in the middle of July! Otherwise good value... More

This was my first trip to Europe and I didn't know what to expect. The facility was very clean and our room was comfortable. We were there for three days. The hotel breakfasts were good but not as good as the other hotels in Spain. The check-in staff were polite but not very friendly. The nice thing about the hotel... More

We stayed here 3 nights recently. Location is great as everything is a short walk away. Beds could've been a little more comfortable though. Cab drivers also always had a hard time finding this hotel. Staff was friendly which is always a great thing.

Our corner room was comfortable, quiet, spacious and light with heavy blackout curtains and a quiet but effective air conditioning system. The bathroom had natural light which was a bonus. I loved that the antique elevator still works even though there is a modern one as well. Next door is the Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales which was top of... More

The hotel is located at the plaza San Martin. It is a few blocks from El Corte Ingles, Gran Via, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Calle Mayor etc. Within walking distance you have all Madrid's major attractions. El rastro, the Reina Sofia, Cibeles, Alcala etc. The rooms are not luxurious but clean and comfortable, though a bit dark. The staff... More

It is very unique that the hotel in the capitol of the European country can be so well located (in the middle of Madrid's main attractions), and at the same time not pricy. On the top you may enjoy 4* quality standard and free WI-FI. The hotel's rooms are nice, clean, the bathroom was very ok. The breakfast was excellent... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
