My wife and I stayed at this hotel for five nights, we absolutely love it. It is the best location in the middle Madrid and yet is nice and quiet. Our stay was during a heat wave in Madrid but staying at this hotel made it possible, because we were close to most of the places we wanted to visit.... More

Just returned from a three night break , the hotel was lovely although would advise first floor and above rooms as they have basement level which have no views . Nice seating area outside in the square with comfy seats - much needed after a day walking through the city ! Would definitely recommend for position and price

Lovely hotel in a charming old building on a quiet plaza. Despite being very central to Madrid attractions, the plaza is tucked away in a hidden corner. Very comfortable room with all the amenities, great value for the price. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with walkability to major attractions, and nice selection of breakfast foods at the morning buffet. Also the staff were very personable, greeted us with a smile every time we entered the building.

I really enjoyed my brief stay of one night at this hotel this past weekend. It is so cute and in a convenient location off of the Puerto del Sol. It is in walking distance to the Prado, Opera house, Royal Palace, etc. It is also close to two metro stops, Opera and Puerto del Sol. The restaurant is decent... More

If you're looking to visit the beautiful city of Madrid, then I can thoroughly recommend this wonderful hotel. Prices weren't that bad and we were well looked after by the restaurant / bar staff. The hotel is centrally located near many of the city's tourist attractions including Puerta del Sol, and 3 metro stations.

I was fairly impressed with everything at this hotel. Staff was very helpful and spoke good English. The room was quite large and very comfortable. WiFi speed was great. My only complaint would be that one of my towels was dirty and the others had an odd smell. I think it was just from the cleaning products but it was... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is centrally located, close to the opera house and Palacio Real. The location is also close to restaurants, other attractions and shopping. It was a great starting point for walking tours. Although we didn't use the subway, the Callao station is a short walk from the hotel. The staff is polite and... More

Good location within walking distance to all things interesting! The fourth floor room was comfortable but small. Bathroom good. But no iron or ironing board!! We had to send out our pressing and it wasn't cheap, and there is no service on weekends or holidays! Also no pool, which is a problem in the middle of July! Otherwise good value... More

This was my first trip to Europe and I didn't know what to expect. The facility was very clean and our room was comfortable. We were there for three days. The hotel breakfasts were good but not as good as the other hotels in Spain. The check-in staff were polite but not very friendly. The nice thing about the hotel... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
