Nice location if you want to be in the old center of Madrid (not so good if you are there on business). Nice property, simple rooms, very nice breakfast ... all adds up to a good option for a short visit to Madrid

Our bag was stolen from hotel lobby kept right besides us. The man who walked away with it was sitting in lobby, in front of us. This has happened in hotel once before also but still they took no measures to stop stray people roaming around in lobby.

Very pleasant hotel with a great location. Avoid if you have kids as they don't like children laughing in the atrium at 9 pm. Breakfast very good beds really comfy. Rooms spotlessly cleaned on a daily basis, nice thick towels, the room was however a little chilly even with the thermostat set st 22

Was a very city centre located hotel. Close to metro stop. Really enjoyed stay here and walked to the attractions easily. Big spacious hotel room which had balcony, was very comfortable. Two minutes walk from Madrids main department store and other shopping. Would definitely recommend.

I stayed here for 4 nights over the new year period. Staff were welcoming, room was a good standard. Maid service was daily and clean towels and toiletries replaced daily. Room came with breakfast, and there was a nice selection of fruit, pastries, and yogurt to choose from. Juices, coffee, tea and toast were also available. The hotel is close... More

A pleasant hotel in a great location. They serve an excellent breakfast and very good lunch. The location would be hard to beat-a quiet plaza within walking distance to all the main attractions of historic Madrid including the Prado. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing-not fancy-but with all the amenities needed. We particularly liked the courtyard lounge. There are many... More

Correct and speedy check in, check out. Room in front of San Martin Plaza, bed good and no noise problems from the Plaza. We were lucky to take, first day, a lunch in the december sun on their terrace. For a little price they offer a three course menu with one drink free. Lucky, because I will never forget the... More

Beautiful old hotel. They told me the history and I've forgotten, but this beautiful old house goes back a couple of hundred years. Very comfortable atrium for a quiet drink or read a book and the staff are always there to ensure you are well looked after. Two spacious lifts, and make sure you try the old original one. At... Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
