LOCATION: Taxi to Atocha station from the hotel takes 10 minutes and costs EUR 8. HOTEL: Not especially fast nor friendly check-in. Fast and friendly check-out. Not especially friendly concierge with far too much of the Spanish nonchalant shrug and far too much guessing when giving advice to guests. Very clean, good size room. Bright. Very good beds and pillows.... More

This is without doubt an excellent high quality traditional hotel. Not much to fault and so to fair to this hotel I won't. The hotel should meet the high standards of any business or tourist traveller. It is, in my opinion, geared mainly towards the the business traveler. I stayed at this hotel for 3 days, as the company I... More

We spent two nights at this hotel. Our room was lovely with a balcony over the Le Jardine restaurant. We were on the top floor so it was quiet. The negative about the room is that there are no power outlets in the bathroom except for an electric razor. Ladies, if you have your own hairdryer, a flat iron or... More

I stayed at the intercontinental last week with my friend for two nights. The hotel was beautiful and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated with a massive bathroom with shower and bath and there was also an ironing board and iron which came in handy. The breakfast was delicious with lots of variety... More

We stayed here from 21-25 April for a romantic city break. A "hotel-in-a-palace" InterContinental, so a great foyer but rooms a bit on the tight side (some have balconies). Convenient for the airport (about 20 minutes to/from Terminal 2). We stayed in a Club InterContinental room, which was a very worthwhile investment - the Club offers a great breakfast (made... More

The hotel is pretty nice, wonderful brunch buffet and good service. But the distance to attractions are kind of awkward. About 2-3km to grand via and royal palace which is a bit far for walking and too close to take a taxi since taxi is charge by time and there are too many red lights on the way.

Well located, short walk from Metro. Well appointed rooms, comfortable beds and choice of pillows, helpful staff, good breakfasts, touch of old fashioned luxury. Welcoming atmosphere, very clean, can thoroughly recommend.

Last Sunday I was with my family in this known hotel following friend´s recomendation. It was amazing, everything was good, well presented, variety of food.... My recomendation, the seafood, cold cuts and dessert.

Location good, but (only very) slightly out of the way. View from the room was not superb, but we were hardly there and there was not much to see in any direction/elevation anyway). No supermarkets nearby. Minibar and drinks very pricey if not on expenses (E6.75 for a Coke). Wifi also expensive unless you join the Intercontinental Points system. Food... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
