The hotel is a classical Grand Hotel in a very convenient location centrally in Madrid. The rooms are very nice though the time will come, where the hotel needs an upgrade to a few more contemporary features like being able to shut the down all lights from the bed, Breakfast was good, although the choices could be a bit wider... This a lovely hotel, with all of the luxury amenities you would expect from an Intercontinental hotel. Staff were nice and friendly, but not overly-so. It seemed much more geared towards business travellers than tourists, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The building is grand and within walking distance of some attractions, although you will be more likely to... More

We just came back from a week's stay in Madrid at the InterContinental, and we have nothing but great things to say. The staff were incredibly helpful, even before we arrived! We asked for their help to get us soccer (football) tickets for a sold out game between Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid, and their staff (thank you so... More

I was very unimpressed by this IC hotel in the heart of Salamanca. Typically, an InterContinental experience includes top-notch cuisine, a high-level of service and a room you want to stay in well past your visit. Unfortunately this hotel didn't meet the same level of quality I've seen in other InterContinental hotels. PROS: Location. On one of the main boulevards... More

Stylish and comfortable hotel with convenient links to all parts of the city for visitors. Well-equipped and restful room with good range of toiletries. Lovely breakfast. Attentive, knowledgeable and very helpful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Perfect stay!

This is the second time we have stayed at the InterContinental Madrid and it really is a lovely hotel. The staff are welcoming and accommodating and the rooms are perfect for business or pleasure. We had the pleasure of having our breakfast in the club room which was very relaxed and informal. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel,... More

An elegant hotel that is perhaps not in the middle of the tourist area but in this case it is worth taking the short metro ride to the center since the hotel is very nice. A traditional and classy hotel, this is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, it was beautiful but perhaps not ideal for a holiday, there was a lot of business talk at breakfast and the price of drinks in the lobby were prohibitive for us. Fabulous bathrooms and lovely rooms, breakfast was amazing and the staff incredibly helpful.

Stayed here over Easter weekend. Can't complain about the 3 nights we had here, staff were very kind and accommodating. We were a little disappointed by the lack of pool (hot weekend) and the garden terrace we felt wasn't anything special. However would return as price was good and location perfect.

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
