The location of the hotel is perfect. The nearest metro station is about 50m from the front door and the next metro station is only a 5 minute walk towards the Gran Via. We walked to this Metro station as it had more of a direct link with the main attractions and the airport. The breakfast at the hotel was... More

In Madrid all hotel beds are soggy. The problem is that all hotels tell you that their beds are hard.....or they can organize a board under the mattress. Is it just me but I don't like to sink into the mattress - I want something firm.....Slowly we worked through rooms looking for the elusive hard bed - there was one... More

Madrid was the first city on our two week long vacation in Spain and Italy. Stayed at the Melia for 2 nights. The check in was friendly and fast. They accommodated my request to stay on a higher floor away from the elevators. There were a total of 3 travelers in the room, the roll out bed was already ready... More

I was woken up 3 out of 3 nights that I stayed here. 2 nights by loud phone call noise from the room next door ( I could hear every word), and on the third by yelling from other guests near the elevator. On the second night I did call reception, and the called the room to ask the woman... More

The hotel is located less than 5min walking from Pl. de Espana. neighborhood seemed OK; located on a central street and some restaurants and cafes in walking distance. My room was just OK for me, traveling solo and was located in the 9th floor. The glass bathroom door, with poor isolation could have been a problem if traveling as a... More

First time in this hotel and pleasantly surprised. Location is reasonably central and within a short walk is a lovely park and in addition there are plenty of affordable eating out options including most American food service brands. VIPs is a great Spanish take on a fast food restaurant. This would make a good base for a family stay in... More

My wife and I had three nights in the hotel and had heard it was "far out from the city." This isnt true and the very efficient metro system is two blocks away. The room was comfortable although with very odd sinks and faucets: handles on the wrong side, deep, you had to be careful placing a glass under the... More

I stayed in Melia Princesa for several nights during a business trip in March. Absolutely amazing location. It's quiet and yet central. 10 minutes walk to Prado, Plaza del Sol and practically anywhere you may want to go to. We walked to Retiro Park and to the Royal Palace, everywhere. The hotel is totally adequate. It is clean, beds are... More

We stayed here for my husbands 50th birthday weekend. The hotel is in a great location close to the metro and walking distance from all the city centre sites. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The common areas of the hotel are lovely though the carpet in the corridors... More

Staying in Arguelles

Neighborhood Profile
Arguelles
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
