There is nothing like El Barrio de las Letras in Madrid. No place feel more Spanish and no place has more life. Its like stepping into another century and next to El Prado and other tourist sites . The Artistic B&B is right at the center of everything without the noise and the expense. The Artistic costs less than half... More

I spent 3 days in Madrid at the end of a 3-week visit to Spain. i was exhausted and Madrid was in the midst of a horrendous heat wave, up to 105 degrees :-/ . While I was expecting to just endure my stay, I actually greatly enjoyed it...thanks in large part to Paolo y Rodolfo, the wonderful owners/hosts at... More

We had the batik room. I was worried about noise as it is the front of the house but it wasn't a concern except on garbage day. The only downfall was the other guests being loud at breakfast time prevented us from sleeping in. Our hosts were gracious, informative, and helpful. They were attentive to my dairy allergy. I would... More

We found this little B&B on TripAdvisor and I fell in love with the charming decor. It was perfectly located in the Artistic District within walking distance of the Plaza Mayor and directly across from the Prada. The hosts were warm and very friendly and seemed to be very interested in us as people and how we enjoyed our stay.... More

Room were on the smallish side but very clean. Aircon rooms definitely helpful given the heat at the time. Location is good. Owners very friendly and willing to give advice and assistance for the stay.

I made an account just to write good things about this place. Paula and Rudolfo were fantastic hosts, so friendly and helpful. They also provided a wonderful breakfast every morning with homemade teabreads. The style of the accomidations was charming as you can see in the pictures. We also found our fellow travelers friendly and eager to discuss travel tips... More

This was an excellent place for my first visit to Madrid - close to the art museums and the downtown area. The rooms were very nice and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was a treat every morning, with lots of choice, and kept us going well into the afternoon. Paola and Rudolpho are excellent hosts, who really seem to enjoy chatting... More

Like most, I use the old Trip Advisors to find a decent place to eat or stay, and this is where it all works brilliantly. Artistic B&B is a proper word of mouth joint, never to be found in a glossy brochure or some lastminute dot web what ever, just hidden, smiling, waiting to be found.... by us (and you).... More

This was the best b and b Ive stayed in Paolo and Rudolopho were young and ran the place so well, breakfast was a treat meeting others from everywhere, all coming back to this one place. It was reasonable and close to Prado, Thysson and all the parks including the Crystal Palace . Restaurants were up the street including an... More

Loved the decor that is well depicted in the photos. Very clean and quiet. Near to the Prado and Reina Sophia. Plenty of restaurants nearby and a short walk to the Puerta del Sol area where there are even more choices to eat and shop. Easy walk from Atocha. I had a few nights alone in Madrid and decided to... Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
