This hotel is central for most attractions with easy access from the airport by Metro - less than 30 minutes. The hotel is old and grand. Yes it is a bit tired but this might just add to the charm. We found the reception was not great with 3 grumpy men behind the counter all appearing to be busy on... More

This hotel is in an excellent location in easy reach of everything! Ignore any comments about expensive wifi. Yes, its pricy if you pay for wifi in your room but if you are happy to sit in the lobby, its free! Just ask at reception and they will give you the code. The roof top pool was definitely the reason... More

Stayed for 5 nights at the end of August, room only. Great location on Gran Via near to Plaza De España and Palacio Real. Everything you could want is on your doorstep, from modern to traditional restaurants, cafés and bars. The hotel itself is good, no complaints at all. It was great to spend the morning exploring the city followed... More

Superb location on the Gran Via hence exceptionally close to main sights like the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, El Rastro flea market and most of the best areas to eat and drink. There's also a very handy Metro stop quite literally 20 seconds from the front door, giving you access to the whole city. Our room on the 7th... More

Good choice if you want a central location; staff are very helpful and professional. The pool on the roof is a real asset. Our room was small with no view, but we knew that. Breakfast had a wide selection and we thought it was a fair price for what we received; best coffee in the whole trip.

Good price for central location, with excellent pool on roof with great view of city. Room clean and comfortable, not huge, no view. Breakfast very expensive, we knew it would be and only had it once.

This is a great hotel, with all the public areas in good condition and with an amazing roof terrace and pool. Inside the rooms, the wallpaper is coming away, the furniture is old and it generally needs a refit. It doesn't feel like a luxury hotel in the rooms, so we spent as much time outside of them as possible!

Got the metro from the airport which stops just 5mins from the Hotel take line 8 to “ Nuevos ministerios station” and there, change to line 10 until Plaza de España station , this is just across the street from the Hotel . The hotel is lovely old style and... More

We booked the Romance Package for a 3 night stay which included a bottle of cava and access to the club lounge. The room was ok if a bit worn and slightly musty smelling but it was clean so far so good. Check in was pretty quick, as we're the lifts and the bed was comfy with blak out curtains... More

In principal I always subtract a star for no or expensive wifi, just for information. I was wondering wether to pull of another for general wear, but I think the roof terrace and pool is so damn cool, so I'll stick with the four stars. There aren't that many hotels in central Madrid with a decent outdoor pool, so you... More
