This was an anniversary break - the club location and the roof too pool bar were both havens of peace and luxury in equal measures. The hotel is old and so rooms are very spacious. You feel a little like you have walked back to a different opulent era when you walk through the front doors.

For us the Emperador was all we could have hoped for. The room was quiet ( we faced the busy Gran Via ) and a few extras we had paid marginally more for were well worth having. After a busy morning and early afternoon it was great to escape to the Roof Terrace high above the City streets to relax... More

I don't normally write reviews- however, this hotel is so terrible it's completely ruined our trip to Madrid and I wish I'd been warned of how awful this place is before we booked. Currently sitting in the old grotty dirty dark hotel room whilst I can hear the guests above stomping around....not exactly the relaxing trip I was hoping for.... More

We stayed here in August for our wedding anniversary and a city break. We really enjoyed it the staff were friendly and the lobby bar was great for a night cap in the evening after a meal and stroll around Madrid. The roof terrace and bar is brilliant offering great views over the city and a cool place for a... More

This hotel has great service and is very well situated to all the sites in Madrid. We were in room 621 which was a junior suite with 2 single beds and one pullout couch which transforms back to a couch. This was one of the larger rooms. There is a nice bathroom off the bedroom. This room is at the... More

Without the roof top pool I would give this hotel 2 or 3 out of 5, but the pool meant that you could relax in the sunshine throughout the day and explore the wonderful city during in the evening. Our room was dated, but clean. A good selection of food was served at breakfast, which we felt was more than... More

The staff are welcoming, the lobby bar is nice, the rooms are good and the rooftop bar are amazing. Love this place. Perfect location and a great place. Suits everyone. I'll be back. And Madrid is a really great place to.

This hotel is located in the centro shopping distinct and is worthy of its 4 star rating. Four of stayed here in two twins. The reception area is lovely and the staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are spacious ( also rather dark due to being sandwiched between tall buildings). There is good air conditioning and the bathrooms is... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
