4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The hotel in itself is very nice, with quite big and comfortable rooms of an old fashioned design. The daily cleaning was good. The hotel is located in the middle of Gran Via which of course has its benefits, but with a balcony facing the street like we had, you should be prepared to listen to car horns and sirens... More

While the hotel portrays itself as being this historic hotel in a historic building, the reality is that it is rather outdated than really historic looking. The room looked old, the carpet was spotted and unclean, the wood chipped and scratched, the bed had loose screws and kept on making noise, and the extra bed is a very uncomfortable small... More

This hotel has a great Location within walking distance of many attractions in Madrid. Good sized room Hot buffet breakfast good. Rooftop swimming pool ideal late afternoon after sightseeing. Open till 8pm weekdays. Lobby area/bar is small and often crowded as free WIFI is only available in this area. This signal is also poor- our only criticism of the really... More

Not quite getting the bad reviews! Fantastic experience in view of the rate paid...sublime rooftop pool. Friendly attentive yet relaxed service. Great room with sunset views over Madrid. Well stocked mini bar - small issues getting ice but no biggy. Worth paying a little extra for a better room with more of a view - glad I did. Love Madrid.... More

Location is great, right on Gran Via Pool area is cool, staff was great and the early check in was really appreciated. Only complaint would be that the wifi in the lobby is pretty slow, and you have to pay to get wifi access in your room. there is a bit of traffic noise but not excessive

This hotel is great. Perfectly located in the center of Madrid, just a 10-minute stroll from the Royal palace, lots of shops and restaurants, and markets and popular sights. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are also excellent. On top of the hotel is the best: a pool with sunchairs and a bar where you can get a... More

The room was clean, of good size, but out dated. The location was great...a few steps away to everything. The breakfast was good but not very diversified. I hated the fact that the internet was only available free-of-charge in the lobby.

Travelling with a group of about 26 people we found a great welcome in this wonderfull **** hotel, which could be ***** easily. The staff was very helpfull and ever so kind to fullfill all the needs and wishes we had. The spacious lobby with its bar was a nice area just to sit and read a bit, have talks... More

The hotel is in a perfect location, close by to all thats happening in Madrid (Shops, nightlife, attractions). However for a 4* hotel this was a very disappointing experience in comparison to many other 4* hotels i have stayed in across europe. The hotel staff are not always the most helpful (on the Saturday night we asked if the staff... More

I rated this hotel very good and not excellent due to the fact that wifi was only available in the lobby which resulted in many customers taking up space and seats in the lobby. Also, room was quite small and no air, however one could open the window in the daytime to cool the room. It would be too noisy... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
