Stayed here for a long weekend with friends and I couldn't have hoped for a better location. The hotel was well located and easy to walk to the main sites. The rooftop pool and bar were perfect especially with the weatherin the 30's. Only slight criticism was the breakfast which wasn't that special. I would definately stay there again!!

This is a great find in the middle of Madrid. Rooms are very quiet and the staff are helpful. Rooftop pool is bigger than it looks in the pictures. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for sightseeing as it is in such a great location. Only two things could be better - elevators are very small and very... More

First the upsides; very good location, very nice pool area on top floor with a fantastic view, good rooms if you upgrade from standard Downsides: very bad breakfast, low quality stuff. Scrambled eggs are disgusting, fruit had gone bad every day of our stay. Be sure to upgrade, standard rooms are not worth the money. Hotel is good if you... More

We have stayed at this hotel from July 21 till July 24 2015. We have read the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were a bit aware. But we were not disappointed of our stay. Actually the opposite. At check in very nice staff. When you enter the hotel you can see armed security people. It gives you a safe feeling.... More

I would give this hotel a 3 1/2 stars if I could it's better than average but not very good......although it certainly has the potential to be. The positives; Great link to airport with the metro. Two different metro lines, one a few steps away and one only minutes. Free wifi. Beautiful building. Stunning roof top pool with free towel... More

Our room was on the 3rd floor, and it was a bit old-fashioned, but ok. We had the club Emperador access, which was nice. Something to read, had a couple drinks and some snacks. The best thing about this hotel, despite its amazingly great location, was the rooftop-pool area (I spent all my mornings there), where the sun was shining,... More

Booked through Hotels.com and got a good rate for a centrally located hotel of a certain vintage. This resulted in a small room with a very high ceiling, a bathroom with limited water pressure and an internal view of not much. However the pool area on the roof had a totally different feel to the rest of the hotel, and... More

I had an extended 9 day stay at the Emperador Hotel in Madrid this July. I was very pleased with the hotel and would return without hesitation. Prior to my trip, I read all the reviews to see what to expect. Some of the comments were accurate, but most I felt were over-stated. Possibly they were written by USA tourists... More

Stayed for 8 nights room only. Centrally located. Step outside and you are at the entrance to the Metro, shops and many places to eat. We are vegetarians and found a good selection of choice. When booking I requested a large triple room with view and balcony and that is what we were given. I requested that the 3rd bed... More

Lovely hotel in a central location. Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and spotless and it was a nice touch getting a welcome glass of cava and smarties on the first night. The best thing about the hotel was the rooftop pool and bar on the 10th floor. Stunning views of the city! The photos do... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
