This was our second stay and we love it. Beautiful room, kingsize bed, excellent bathroom and double sinks. Breakfast buffet plentiful and restocked diligently. The location is fine when you master the metro which is straightforward. The restaurant is helpful for pizzas and main courses if you are too tired to venture out at night. Staff are positive, umbrellas are... More

Good quality 4* hotel located just off Calle Sagasta, a 5 min walk from Alsonso Martínez tube station. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Room was large with twin beds & air con, good storage space, all the usul modern facilities & lovely bathroom with twin sinks and fab shower. Breakfast was included & choices available from tortilla, cereals, toast, cheese,... More

This hotel is ok, I stayed for 5 nights here on a business trip and it was functionally fine. Comfy bed, edible food. Car parking is awful, super tight, very expensive and only five spaces (one of which is huge and permanently reserved for someone from the hotel)

It seems to me that this hotel is rated as 4 star purely on the decor as it is unlike any other 4 star I've stayed in. All the place offers is very good decor as you would expect but very little else. Room service is available but only when the on site cafe is open. We returned to the... More

After spending one week working, my spouse and I decided to relax for one week in Madrid. Upon entering the hotel, the front staff made a comment that our reservation was made via Expedia, grinned at each other and took us to the back of the hotel past the lobby section to what seemed to be an older section of... I never write reviews unless a place is really great or really terrible. DO not stay at this awful hotel, for the same price you can get something better. This hotel is one of those European Hotels that rates itself as a 4 star hotel but is really a 2 star hotel by American standards. This would be like a... More

Four days of shoping and museums. The room was nice, clean and the bed fantastic. Good price. Near the hotel there is a subway station and planty of bus stops. Many restaurants available and near a good shoping area

Even though it's not a luxurious hotel, the Gran Versalles is a very good place for business travelers. I have stayed there several times and the experience is good: the staff is friendly, the free wi-fi works everywhere in the hotel and the location very convenient if you want to walk or take other transportation. There is a metro station... More

Stayed for 4 nights on vacation. All in all, I do recommend this hotel as a good, budget-friendly hotel in a good central location in Madrid. This is not fancy of course but it really is value for your money. Obviously the hotel's first and foremost advantage is the metro station that is a 1-2 min walk from the hotel.... More

We travelled to Madrid this past month with a party of two and stayed at Gran Versalles Hotel, and found that the room was average. The room was dated, and a bit small, however, the washroom and the room for that matter was clean. The staff was helpful, and directed us how to get around in the city and where... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
