Very good hotel, well situated for the city. Plenty of excellent restaurants close by. The city centre is about 30 minutes walk but there is a convenient metro which takes you there in a few minutes. Hotel was clean, quiet and very attentive. The lounge is excellent and the gin and tonics even better. We did not eat in the... More

Stayed for a night in November. The rooms are very nicely appointed with very nice amenities. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 15/20 minute walk from the Prado through the Parque de Retiro.

Day 5 of a 6-day stay - if I don't do it now I'll forget once I get home ! Spent a long time selecting somewhere for our second visit to Madrid. Very pleased with the choice, especially the location. meters only from Retiro Metro which is on the 02 red line that heads west into the city centre. Only... More

Wellington Hotel is in the "Beverly Hills" or the extremely nice and fancy part of Madrid. The service at the hotel was great and it served as a comfortable place to start our Spain vacation. It is near some restaurants and shops but it is not in the heart of Madrid but we found ourselves taking taxis everyday to get... More

Do they have a problem at Hotel Wellington of clients leaving without paying their bill? It seems like it; by the way the doorman delayed loading our luggage into our airport limousine, until he’d checked by radio, that our bill had been cleared. I found this experience quite disrespectful and rude, particularly as I had paid for our three night... More

The hotel is located in a very privileged madrid area. The rooms are really big, clean, pretty and comfortable as well as the bathrooms. The hotel gym is AMAZING. Very modern and well equipped and it is available for free use. The service was also really good

Madrid is beautiful this time of the year, it is cold in the mornings 32 degrees Farenheit but temperature going up to 55 on the afternoon. Nice to stroll at midday. During the years, I spent probably more than 30 nights at this hotel and of course I have many memories, some oh them good, some of them bad. The hotel is located in a very nice and elegant district of Madrid, close to El Retiro park and about 25 minutes on foot by Puerta del Sol. I have only stayed... More

This hotel is a classic in Madrid - building and lobby area is beautiful and the location is excellent. Check-in was quick and front desk people very nice. Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
