Wellington hotel from an aesthetics point of view is great. The rooms are spacious with wonderful bathrooms and within about a mile walk from the city center. The challenge is with the staff. I arrived late and they had locked the revolving door. The man behind the counter had the personality of a wall and didn't greet me with a... More

A must stay during bullfights in Madrid as many of the bullfighters also occupy the hotel. Try getting access to the Wellington Club on the 7th floor. The view of Madrid!s rooftops is lovely and the service and food is very nice.

The room was very comfortable and has all amenities in a very elegant fashion. Metro is nearby and location is 10 minutes walk from the elegant shopping district. I will definitely come back. Food is very expensive but Mallorca coffee shop 3 blocks away is an elegant but affordable choice for excellent breakfast or lunch.

The Wellington cannot have a bettre location: right in the middle of the elegant Salamanca District, a few blocks from Calle Serrano and Parque del Retiro, the Wellington has this to it's advantage. Besides location, staff is friendly, rooms clean, and the bar is more than charming. Breakfast is a delight. The only complaint is that rooms are rather small... More

Stayed here while visiting Madrid for the ATP Tennis. I had not been here since 2008 and is was as if nothing had changed except the wifi is free and works! Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
